My boss is actually really nice and gives me whatever I ask for. He bumped me up from 16/hr to 27/hr just bc I asked. He lets me do whatever I want whenever I want as long as I’m doing something. But lately I’ve been making up meaningless work and practicing making music while clocked in (working from home almost all the time) I even have a 2nd office my boss agreed to pay rent on. I should be grateful for my job but all I can think about is leaving to be a waitress or bartender. I want to be at my main office full time by the end of the month but I can’t stand being there. Everything is quiet and boring and I have no coworkers I relate to. I dread it more than anything I’ve ever dreaded. How do I get my motivation and discipline back,…

Its a complicated situation on why we can’t just Quit this job just yet, but this contract cleaning job is doing shady shit. I’ll keep this short but we need advice. I know the first answer is just “Call out. Dont show up. Say you have a doctors appointment” Which I told him were options but he is nervous that suddenly saying he will not be cleaning the houses that already paid, will get us fired. I am on a vacation because it was already paid for (till the 4th where I will go back to not being allowed days off unless i have proof of a medical appointment) but I couldn’t convince my bf to lie and say he is coming with. We need this money to build while we look for another job. He told someone else who is a close family friend and who also works for…
I recently got a job offer from a company that seems mildly desperate for workers, and are specifically targeting people who just got their bachelor's. It is almost definitely an employee position, but they are very upfront about the fact that I will be 1099. If I do end up taking this position, would I get in trouble for being 1099 when the position does not qualify? I do not mind paying the extra taxes. I am not struggling for money and could quit at any time.

After 3 weeks of interviewing for this company, including a phone screening, a meet the team, as well as reaching out to three of my references, I wasn't selected. I'm very disappointed, as the team interviewing me used very positive language when discussing the position, and even talked about what the job entailed “when” I interviewed. All to be sent a generic email stating “best of luck!” At the end. Nothing against the place I was interviewing for, but thus process has been tedious. Job searching for the better part of a month, having over 20 interviews in a span of 3 weeks, only to be rejected from the one I was holding out for, sucks mega butt. I'm beyond disappointed with myself and my abilities. I'm not even sure if I should waste time asking for feedback, as I know I was a final candidate and it likely came…
Hello Everyone, First, I’ll explain what happened before my boss started spreading rumors about me. I work in a manufacturing company in the QC Lab as a lab technician doing testing and I wanted to impress my boss so I started doing extra tasks to impress him. After that, GM came to my boss and told him that he can offer me a promotion so my boss came and talked to me and asked me what I am expecting in a promotion and things like that. One week later, I was booked in a meeting with top management in all departments and I knew this meeting was regarding my promotion. In that meeting I was basically bullied by all managers one of them said “I am impressed that you are interested in your career and working hard to develop in our company but you know this career development doesn’t help…
Think about this too much
The new position pays substantially more. I told my boss that I am not interested in an arrangement where I am not getting paid the full amount. He gave a noncommittal response.
I work for a very large private company who are going out of their way to not immunise myself and my colleagues against hepatitis. My company is one of the biggest in the UK, we look after the most challenging 10-18 year olds in the country and we get either bitten, scratched or spat at, at least once a week if not more. I have spent 5 months communicating with the head of HR who has tried to tell me I'm wrong and its not for the company to immunise the workforce (which it is) and even when they finally put me through to occupational health they then mislead them about what I was after so they then would not see me. After contacting occupational health myself they told me they gave HR the information they needed to show that people in my line of work should be vaccinated as…
Can I get a legal opinion?
I see this riding on technicality The largest company in sports food + hospitality is requiring service workers to punch in and immediately punch out to take their 30 minute unpaid break during college game days. This is not even legally required federally or in our state- I think they just want to look good?). And if you are late for your shift, which is really just waiting time, you get docked points. It’s also impossible to get to these college football games- fighting through crowds, going through metal detectors. So it’s not like you’re just a free bird. Which wouldn’t be an issue if you truly were receiving a break. I’m somewhat versed on meal/break times and if this scenario is not technically in violation, it seems very easy to break compliance in the break being uninterrupted if the employee is in the area where they would have coffee…
