A little bit of a rant here.. For the past 4 years I’ve been working in different types of factories. I usually want 2nd shift because there’s less people/politics. I like working in factories for a few reasons (in no particular order).. 1) Usually have weekends off and most (if not all) major holidays (New years day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, etc.) are off and paid. 2) Pay is usually pretty decent depending on your experience level/role. 3) Benefits (Medical, Dental, vision, etc.) are pretty good and reasonably priced (the amount they take out of your check every week). 4) Usually can work a little overtime if you want/need it. 5) They usually give you vacation time/PTO So for the most part, I love it. What I don’t love? The people I work for/with. I wouldn’t have left half of the jobs I did if it wasn’t for…

Calls during time off?
Perspective: I am being laid off and these are my last two weeks. For years my company has been in the bad habit of calling me for “emergencies” every time that I am off. It literally never fails. I’ve had to work nearly every vacation and I’ve not gone away in 7 years. I had told them they need to respect my time when I am off and I’ve started to completely log out of teams when I am off. Yesterday a senior manager says “Call me right away.” I wasn’t logged on and didn’t see it till hours later, and was busy. I didn’t respond until today when I was back at work. Part of the reason they claim I’m being outsourced is because I need time off and I’m just one person. So, I am enforcing my boundaries and not responding to anyone when I’m off? They already…
What made you so crazily mad and struggling at the point of you wanting to leave the company? thank you!
Just had a little cry at my new job
Started a new job, been here a week. No training, no guidance. I went and asked questions (I guess not to the right person). Was told to take initiative and figure it out myself..fucking hate these jobs.
Why is this something to read?
Here is a guy supposedly writing about studies explaining why RTO is not the best answer. OH! He's a consultant to companies who have fucked up their RTO decisions. Thanks for telling me why more companies should hire you instead of reporting some facts. Damn it.
I’m a manager at a small business and got a text saying a coworker found out about some child abuse is happening with his 2 year old. The other main manager got this text before me and told the guy he was free to talk, then immediately got a call from his dad so he didn’t respond. I don’t understand why his first thought is about propriety…. Jesus
As used to work in a grocery store and really worked there for five years. What irked me and others that were full time was that part time workers that were mainly kids that got the hours due to not having benefits. And that the full timers should usually get the hours and the benefits. Plus the weekends off. But that was not the case by any and all means. Really wasn't fair for those that had families to feed that needed to have the weekends off. As those part time workers complained about it. They didn't seem to understand it why they had to work the weekends and the full timers did not. Just think that the part time workers should work on the weekends and the full time workers with benefits should just work during the week and have the weekends off. These days it seems these part…
3 People Called Me on My Day Off
I (20) work part-time at a grocery store. Sometimes I come in on my off days, only because I still get paid for those days. But this experience has left me feeling beyond disrespected and angry. This past week I had not one, not two, but THREE fucking people calling me on my day off. All of them asking if I can help out and cover someone's shift. I will admit that I was already going back and forth between coming in to help anyways, since I needed to do something productive. But still, three people calling me on my day off was the wake-up call I needed. This has led me to vowing to never help out when asked ever again. When someone calls or texts me on my day off, I am finally going to start ignoring them. I am only going to come in on my day…
So I am trying to figure out the month I started one of my jobs but I can't remember because it was a few years ago. I did a estimate but I think I may be off by a few months? Will this cause any issues with doing interviews?
Not being paid commissions owed to me
I’m in Washington state, I worked for a large corporate call center, where you need to be licensed to sell their services. I gave my notice last month. The 2nd of July was my last day. I gave them 2 weeks and funneled all my leads to a coworker. I did my part. I should have been paid my commission check on the 15th of this month, for sales I had from two month back. I’ve received nothing. What’s my best course of action? I feel like there are others like me, that aren’t being paid. This company just had layoffs following a horrible earnings call recently. They suck and have been very unresponsive to my other requests.
