I applied for this job a bit ago. Had a screening interview with HR, then a week later an interview with my would-be supervisor, all went well. Then had a follow up interview with 2 colleagues a few days later, went great. I get a call from the HR lady, and she says the VP of the company wants to speak with me. I think, sure whatever, kind of dragging this out. So I ask about their timeline for this job, and she says “Well we want to hire somebody soon, and we had it down to 2 people, now it's down to 1”. I say “So it was 2 people, now I'm the only candidate left? But the VP wants to talk to me?” and she says “Yes”. Like, okay but if I'm the final candidate give me the fucking job. I worked for an ecommerce auto parts company from 2016-2021 in a variety of positions. During my time there, I experienced blatant sexism, sexual harassment, and an individual in management telling me that only a particular race would ever date me cause I'm fat. Admittedly, I stayed there way longer than I should have but I work for a wonderful company that actually lets us use our unlimited PTO, they're going out of their way to develop me professionally, and two of the three C-levels are women. Where to begin? Most often than not they're taught by a woman who is the epitome of privilege: comes from a wealthy family, went to an ivy league school, drives an expensive car, etc. While being the definition of privilege, this woman then goes on to lecture at a very expensive rate, a whole bunch of employees some of whom are minimum wage workers about … privilege. People are grouped in two, maybe three groups: victims, oppressors and sometimes allies and you could probably guess who are the “designated” oppressors and victims. It's condescending. It's toxic. It's awful. I get this is done so that companies can cover themselves in case they get sued for inappropriate behavior by some of their employees. But somehow it makes things even worse. Fired for a good old WebEx mistake
Been at my company for almost 3 years, with some of the leadership from previous jobs going back almost 10 years….. Today in a meeting with a customer using a conference app i wasn't as used to…I clicked off on a few tabs on my 3rd monitor (not realizing it was sharing each and every other window/tab i clicked on). For all of maybe 1 second a porn tab was up. Closed it, moved on with the meeting (and 1 more after it) 30 min later my boss calls me, and doesn't even let me say a word before letting me know that this was 'inappropriate content shared, on work hardware , damaging client relationship, so you're done, fired with cause, your access is being cut now' and hung up. 3 years with this small startup company, doing so well that they just gave me a $10k raise a few…
My job is just not paying me lol
I work for a multi-million dollar sports stadium, technically I work for a company that subcontracts to the sports stadium and hires laborers I barely make 20 cents more than minimum wage an hour which after union dues are paid I end up making less than minimum wage an hour. It's also less than what they told me I'd get paid in the interview by 50 cents an hour. I've worked there 3 weeks and I'm still looking for a better job but there's not much in my area that work for me with my disabled child's appointments and my full-time School. I was supposed to get paid Friday I did not get paid though.
