Tell me why, boss…
Had to vent after taking a hit on my hours because business is slow. TL:DR my boss knows very little about their own business. Tell me why you won’t give me a raise after about a year when my workload increased twofold because I have already hit the wage ceiling, but hired another person to “help lighten the load”. Sounds logical, except this person was shit at their job and it only added more stress and more work for me even after you let this person go. Seriously, a few dollars more an hour would have saved you a hell of a lot of trouble and money. Tell me why when we tell you a commission will take longer than 2 hours and we can’t guarantee anything close to the same quality of what we put out if we try…tell me why you went over our PROFESSIONAL OPINION and had…
My boss ghosted me
TLDR: my boss hasn’t replied to my communications since 7/17 and I haven’t been scheduled since 7/02 This is a really weird situation and any advice would be appreciated. I graduated from university about a year ago and was hired at a brewery in June of 2022 but was let go due to “lack of business” In January, frustrating but ok. Then I was looking for a job for a while and was hired as an instructor at a Sip and Paint place in March. I was so excited and the job was fun! I figured this was a good way to start out and was pretty close to my field of interest. It was always going to be a part time job with variable hours and that was made clear to me in the interview. What wasn’t made clear to me that was that my boss was the most…
TLDR: I recently left my job after 2 years due to mental exhaustion and burnout. Found out HR changed the PTO accrual policy 2 days before my last day. I’m now receiving a payout of 6.5 hours instead of the 72 hours in my original balance. Some background: I was one of the first hires in my department at a small startup, frequently doing multiple jobs and training new employees. I saw this position as my opportunity to learn a lot and grow within the company. I was frequently praised and promised promotions (both verbal and in writing). In hindsight, they could have hired 2-3 people for the work I was doing but the company culture was amazing, so I didn’t really complain. Fast forward two years, the economy sucks and after multiple rounds of layoffs and massive turnover, company moral is at an all-time low. Several people from my…
I'm a manager at a fortune 50 company and can see pay data very transparently. The pay band for our area increased by 5% due to cost of living. I asked HR if myself or my employees would be receiving a 5% raise, since any newhires would enjoy the new payband. They said no. Fuck em, now I'm applying for new jobs and plan to OE this J1 once I get a J2
Who could have known that RTO mandates would backfire so badly, right? 🤡🤡🤡
Damn, did growing up show me a lot. This $50,000 accounting degree wasn’t really worth the money. And my short term internships were most likely to use me during busy seasons. Because “you haven’t graduated yet”. But once I graduated I couldn’t even qualify for even accounts receivable or accounts payable roles. But then if I go apply at Walmart as a cashier I’m seen as overqualified and gonna “jump ship” at the chance to get a better job so they don’t even hire me neither. The whole thing is crap. I’m really angry at myself for going to college and for how the whole system works. I literally hate it all.
I can’t be the only one that thinks this
If the company is so cheap that they won't give us pay raises for busting our ass for them, instead of having a stupid pizza party buy us 3 ply toilet paper! You will at least make me happy for a half hour everyday instead of using the fucking 1/4 ply stuff they always have. Just saying….
Not me, but my girlfriend. She's been in an apprenticeship program for the last years years. It ends in two weeks and they just this week came back to her with a pay that was a bit more than she or I expected. It's nearly double what she made throughout the apprenticeship. There was just one phrase tacked to the end that trouble me. Her boss said they had to pass the offer to HR who would approve the pay, but because it's such a large hike from what she makes there now they may do it in increments. I thought this was BS. Essentially because she's been with the company for two years they expect her to work well below market price and what a new hire would be making. It's not a sure thing they'd do this yet, but what can she say if they do?
