I hate to elevate this shit opinion piece but he has a point: women are both expected to be assertive in the workplace and then punished for it. What I LOATHE about this opinion piece is it ends with the advice that we not criticize women who are “soft,” not that we accept strong women who are seen as “opinionated” and use the same professional, assertive language as male colleagues. F THIS DOUBLE STANDARD. These kinds of articles always focus on promotions and leadership, but we are also punished by not being heard. I have absolutely negotiated coalitions with male colleagues to sell a good idea I couldn’t sell myself because I know His voice will be heard. Sometimes this doesn’t work in time—I have absolutely wasted hours (…countless hours) cleaning up messes created by a lack of foresight and planning not because I didn’t know what would have prevented…
Hey all, me again. TLDR at bottom. It seems like every morning it's something else. Yesterday was the infamous textbook drama. Well as you can imagine, surprisingly enough people in my office are having issues with the micro managing and dumb policies. And we're all going through this thing called life. So the last couple of days, people have been a tad negative while my supervisor is cracking at the seams with our numbers being less than desired. Not only talking shit about management and the issues between departments but our own problems going on personally. We're a fairly close bunch of co workers, we tend to share and discuss between eachother quite a bit. And shocker, a lot of life events tend to be more negative than positive. Well my supervisor felt to express his thoughts during our morning meeting discussing the new month upcoming. He couldn't stress enough…
Culture fits for introverts suck
I was going to comment on a post, but lost it and basically the OP was talking about how they were fired during their probation period because a worker didn’t like them. I read it as juvenile at first (because it is) but apparently it’s due to failure in a culture fit. It then hit me that most of my jobs that I either quit or terminated from were because of that. I’m a good worker, and have always been told by upper management however I’m an introvert and don’t do anything besides work. Outside of my first job, I never went voluntold meetings, work parties that were out of work/office hours, I didn’t hang out with coworkers, never accepted friend requests, never went outside of small talk and discussed issues outside of work, etc. I just did my job and left on time or when someone was able to…

I don’t like my new job
So I just got a job as a cleaner and my tasks goes as follows: Clean men’s, women’s and unisex bathrooms, I’m told to do each bathroom in 10 minutes which contains 3 toilet stalls and the men’s has 5 toilet stalls and the unisex is just one, and I’m told to vacuum and mop and have that whole floor done in 45 minutes tops. I have 3 floors to do and I have to do it by myself and I just don’t believe that I have the time for it, it takes me like 12-15 minutes as opposed to 10 minutes, am I wrong and tripping or? Am I just a bad cleaner?
I was always raised to believe a home is a place where you want to be, somewhere filled with warmth, joy, people and things you love to be around. However, my boss tells me that my cold, clinical, joyless dilapidated shithole of an office with no air conditioning, where you sit a cubicle for eight hours a day with not a single meaningful interaction beyond “did you get your work done?” is my home. Am I wrong? Or is my boss an idiot?
Resentment from working for a company
Hey guys, I'm just curious, would you feel resentment if you worked for a company that: Let's you work from home if the work can be done from home at that period You are a small team with an equalized organization structure (everyone is their own boss) You are guaranteed a steak in it if you stick with it at least for 1.5 years Just a question, because the current system, for better or worse, at least offers “variability” when it comes to workplaces.
