The privilege to clean
Here’s how pathetic my hospital is. You know how certain groups will get together and clean the beach? I am all for that and actually find it to be a great social opportunity. Well my hospital pressures certain departments to have the privilege of getting together to clean the campus/parking lots on the hospital campus. Do they pay you for this? No, in fact you must be off the clock. Do they provide food or drink? No. What do they provide? Garbage bags and disposable gloves. My boss asked me if I’m going to participate and I’m still laughing. The whole Covid fiasco was healthcare professionals coming together in effort to prevent people from dying under deplorable conditions. We have had zero pay raises for the past two years while inflation has increased 14%. Our 401k matching plan was eliminated. Healthcare plans were picked to the bone. Overtime was eliminated…
Why is Nobody Talking About Issues
Why is the world not talking about how bad things are right now? The housing crisis, cost of living skyrocketing, employers and the rich being scummier than ever. I don't know a single person that isn't hurting right now and most of the people I know my age(in their 20s) are living check to check with no savings and no hope for the future really because of how fucked things are. I have a bachelor's, have no debt, and live in the cheapest apartment, no kids, and still can barely save anything let alone ever hope to own a house one day or even retire. It seems like everything is stacked against us. Most people can't afford a home, will likely not save enough to retire at a decent time and are living check to check. Yet I don't see anyone doing anything, or even really talking about the issues(outside…
Over the last few months, employees at my job have consistently over performed in the upwards of 5-20% of the expected productivity. A handful of the employees (including myself) have received monthly bonuses for performance as well, which take into account not only productivity, but work quality as well. In the last few weeks, as result of this and mis-management (leadership organizes projects to complete and due to a mistake, expected work wss not available yet), projects to continue working on have diminished and we are left to ration out the amount of work we can complete daily. For most workers, this takes about 3-4 hrs and whether we take more or less time, we are required to stay for a 8 full hours. Individuals have been scolded for doing more work than rationed and the expectation is to do the same work over and over again in any remaining…
Looks like it’s time to unionize
NLRB is instituting defacto unionization in case of company unfair labor practice shenanigans during the organizing process.
Laid off – hopefully a new beginning
Posted this on findapath and got zero engagement. Maybe the antiwork folks will be more receptive. Laid off from my job of three years. I'm pissed but trying to be positive and view it as the shot in the arm I needed. I've been wanting to do something better for a while and there was no future at that place. 27 and have just under 40K in savings plus I can get unemployment for 6 months so I'm not gonna starve. Right now venom and anger are my motivator – I want to find a better job and then tell that waste of humanity who let me go exactly what I think of him (nasty stuff I'm not gonna type here). That's my fuel right now. Anyway, despite everyone telling me I have options I don't see it. I have a worthless degree in history that obviously isn't worth shit…
Attendance policy
Doing an informal poll. What is your work attendance policy? Ours uses the points system. Follow up question, if you do have the points system, can any of those points be excused/waived with a doctor’s note?
Ovet the years, I've noticed that “low-skill” jobs like delivery driver and warehouse worker not only hire slobs and morons who break equipment and don't punish them, but also seem obsessed with spending as little as possible on maintenance, even if it fucks us over out on the job.
