I had a job interview at an audio warehouse yesterday and the interviewer began the interview with a story. He said, “I started at this company 10 years ago, back when try-before-you-buy was a thing. I started my first day at 6am and didn’t get home until 9am the next day. I was paid $100 for the work and was happy to get it. A lot of people now don’t have the integrity to prove themselves like that, so we have to pay hourly.” I really didn’t know what to say to this story. He said all this before even introducing himself. I immediately got the feeling like this is one of those jobs that’s going to overwork and underpay you. He explained a laundry list of duties and said I had to buy a black suit, which I really don’t have the money for. He didn’t mention pay so…

Christmas hours
So basically I work at big supermarket cooperation as a customer assistant on a contract of 28 hours Monday – Friday, this year Christmas Day and Boxing Day fall on days I’m scheduled to work which is the Monday and the Tuesday, I have been told that I have to make up these shift hours and the only days I’m allowed to make these up apparently are on the Saturday (Christmas Eve eve) and the Sunday (Christmas Eve) baring in mind I do not work weekends. Been told I can’t come in earlier on shifts as it apparently won’t work on the online roster. Is this legal I’m being forced to work Christmas Eve eve and Christmas Eve even though I have said I can make it up before shifts in the week or better that do it unpaid!! Anyone know if I have a leg to stand on here?
Just gotta get this out.
I work full time and love my job (most days anyway). I'm a paramedic so I might be doing anything from picking your 97 YO grandmother up off of the floor or making a diabetic a sandwich to running your sick child to the hospital with a full team of people in the back while driving code 3 or doing CPR and comforting a family who has just lost a loved one. I get paid pretty well for my field compared to most and things are mostly getting better. But fuck me, a $75 surprise almost broke me when I looked at my account and, I just got paid. I'm not looking for advice, I know what I need to do and I know that part of this is on me for previous choices, I just needed to vent before I get home and have to figure out how my…
I’m so done with this. According to Google, there are thousands of WFH part-time jobs available and everyone is desperate to fill them. As soon as I click on any of them, I find out that it’s not a real opportunity, the major companies that they’re supposedly recruiting for don’t even have any of those jobs available (and they pay minimum wage if there is a job open.) I’ve seen this with Apple, Amazon, PayPal and others. It’s ridiculous. They’re just trying to get me to fill out a form with all my information so that they can spam my inbox with more fake jobs after they tell me “whoops! That company is done recruiting! How about this crappy 35-hours-per-week job? I know you said you wanted part time.” How do I find REAL WFH jobs?
Hello, My coworker(age 27) and I (age 22) have been working at a print shop. Since working with her I've had a lot of sympathy for her because she is pregnant and has claimed that the father was out of the picture. Out of sympathy, I took the workload on me. If a client appeared, I was the one who stood up and helped them. I had her sit. She was on her phone, eating, doing her thing, etc. I told her about my toxic relationship with my mom. And she told me how unfair the baby's daddy was treating her. She would always correct me if I did something wrong. I just accepted everything and understood my mistake. But her approach is rude. Even though we were close, the manner in which she always spoke to me was the same way a mother would speak to a child she…
Anyone else have certain corporate buzzwords or phrases that you really really hate with a fire-y and burning passion? I really really hate the term “touch base”. It just sounds really fucking stupid. Just say what you really want to say, which is “follow up”. Or better yet just say “Hey! fuckhead! Why don't you get back to me on that email I sent you 3 weeks ago!”.
So, I recently got hired to work for Advantage Solutions, a company that outsources people to give samples and demonstrate products in places like Kroger, Target, Wal-Mart, and Sam's Club. I finished my online training last month because of the due dates (having a hard time remembering the training due to Dissociative issues). And they told me to wait for my New Hire Kit to come in the mail, and then let them know so I can start doing events. BUT. APPARENTLY my first day was yesterday. But I never got my new hire kit until this morning! Literally had it handed to me by the postman this morning! And I got emails saying “You missed an event”. I didn't even know I was scheduled for events! I thought they were waiting for me to tell them if I got my new hire kit or not, like my manager said!…
