A long while ago I worked for a terrible racist, bigot. One day, in casual convo he dropped the N bomb fluidly. Gross. The biggest offense was when I walked into his office and he was working away, leafing through a file on his desk. When I rounded the corner of his desk, on his computer screen was a VERY closeup pic of a vagina with a ladies long nailed hands pulling red panties out, that were stuffed inside. I recoiled and he held up his paperwork to the screen and jokingly said, “oh don’t look at that hahahahha” I went to HR. Although they couldn’t trace anything because it was sent to his yahoo mail and was an imbedded image. He ended up getting fired not long after due to other reasons. I’d like to think that my alerting HR brought him into the spotlight.
Month: September 2023
I am currently working from home in Tech Support. However, I've been doing Tech Support for years now and I wanted to move away from that. The place I work at had some openings a couple of weeks ago, I applied for a programming job but I was declined due to lack of experience, makes sense So, I applied last week at yet a different position within the same company for 2D Designer. It lined up with my education, and my experience with their products and experience 2D/3D modeling software such as Solidworks and ExpressPCB. I interviewed last week as well. Yesterday they got back to me and I wasn't in consideration any longer because I applied for a programming job before, and they weren't certain where my future lies as I applied for 2 drastically different jobs. If I didn't need this job right now, I honestly would've quit…
This week I went into an interview for a position transitioning me from working in healthcare to an office position within the same company. I researched what the range of pay would be for the position in my area. They posted a range of $15-18/hour. The actual range for that office position is $26-32/hr. I went into the interview with that in mind and listened to the interviewer tell me the other benefits of the position: company car when traveling outside of a 50 mile radius to visit other locations and a hotel if the drive to a location is over 4 hours. I'm thinking, “That's nice but I'm already being paid the same wage range right now.. Yes I want an office position, but not unless I can get close the bottom of the pay bracket.” They've seen what I can do with paperwork. I made all of the…
What happened to those days? Corporations have cut down our free time for their benefit. A lousy 30 minute short break for lunch, I head over to Starbucks to eat, watch a show, write, draw, etc. then run back to work before the 30 minutes are up. I got longer lunch breaks when I was in high school (and the teachers did too). I actually got to talk with my friends and share artwork. When I heard that they used to be a full hour long, I’m like shit. We gotta protest. I’m fucking exhausted.
How to deal with boss stealing tips?
Hello! I know that it’s illegal for an employer to take tips from employees. I saw and documented confirmation that my boss is taking tips from our tip pool because they’re being included on their checks. I work at a small business where there’s only 2 of us who work here and then the owner operates like a store manager. The owner now has gotten paid out several hundred dollars in tips. How can I move forward with this?
Let's say you're 35/40 and tired of life, you have some wealth , no kids , no wife / husband. What is the best 3rd world country to retire ? Assuming selling everything you have , having US or EU passport and 100k USD.Is it even possible? If not , how much you need assuming dying at 70. We're talking basic stuff , 2000 kcal diet , no going out , no fancy things , electricity , water and buying small place to live / paying off landlord . Let's name this experiment life tax. Basically how much life taxes you to survive it assuming best condition possible ( being born in 1st country , earning enought / selling inheritance and moving to 3rd world cuntry ).
I cant wait to find a job where people can actually act professional. I got a job over the summer for a family of about 12, yeah I know it's a lot. I am actually their dog walker and each kid has a pet of some sort, 3 of them dogs. I was making pretty good money in the neighborhood and this family was a big part of it. They have TONS of pets that needed pet sitting on the side and I even had to “hire” my friends to take on the job, lol. Anyway fast forward to a few months later, I saved up enough money to get plastic surgery. Something I've always been self conscious about were my AAA breasts, yes triple A. I am flat as a cardboard. I wear padded bras and whatnot, so it's not obvious but this insecurity never got in the way…
Income inequality PAC
I've been considering this for a long time now. I work in marketing (throwaway account because I'd really rather not dox myself early on) I feel a general strike or the general activation of the electorate towards income inequality will not happen on a solid timeline without outside influence and support. I want to start and manage a PAC to support efforts to lower income inequality in America. I'm looking to this community: 1) For input. Is this a good idea to you? 2) For those that might like to help lead Americans down a more collectively successful path by joining the PAC management team. 3) For a reality check. Is this ridiculous? I've felt what many have for so long. A deep disquiet. A scribbling of my muscles. An uneasiness tugging on every neck hair. I long for the day me and my fellow workers feel comfortable and protected.…
My job burned down.
My job I loved burned down this Monday while I was at home. They have started to reach out via robocalls and emails. One email has stated they will continue to pay us our normal pay. My concern is how long and what are my options Goin forward. Are they going rebuild? I'm going crazy waiting for answers. Link to local news. https://www.whsv.com/video/2023/09/18/drone-video-verona-fire-submitted-whsv/ The people that worked here were amazing to work with. I hope this company helps out somehow especially the guys that have worked here for 20+ years.
