Need advice. Several ongoing H&S violations in the retail backroom that I am the lead of. I've had issues with it all for months and my management knows but nothing has been done to permanently fix these. I called the govt department responsible and they advised me on proper steps to take and that eventually (probably in a few weeks) an inspector would check us out, and guaranteed confidentiality and anonymity. I informed my direct manager as a courtesy so she could go the proper avenues to cover her ass and I got yelled at and told that her manager would have to know about the report. I fear retaliation and a hostile work environment going forward, and I'm unsure of what to do.
Month: September 2023
I got the midnight to 6AM picket shift but it’s been a very interesting and maybe even fun time seeing my coworkers and city come together against corporate greed!!
Posting a job offer
I am finally able to get an extra employee in my business and wanted to run the ad by you guys before anything. You will be charged with safely operating a drone to safely spray herbicides and pesticides. Starting pay is $23 an hour and once you get your licenses it will automatically be bumped to $27 an hour. You will learn how to the job by me and once you are ready I will pay for the licenses on your time taking the exam. I don't have a health care plan but I will reimburse you the costs once per month. This is in Louisiana BTW

Quitting with no notice…
Extremely toxic workplace that I need out of ASAP + have a new job starting soon. I don’t want my boss to know where I’m going or why I’m quitting. I’m struggling though because she’s a grand POS (contacting me on vacation about an issue that had nothing to do with me, asking staff to do illegal things, zero involvement, no training, no communication, no follow through and just flat out rude.) She cut my hours by more than half and I feel like she’s trying to push me out by attrition. I have never just quit a job without two weeks notice but now I’m in a position that I have to. My plan is to do it after my first shift next week but I’m not sure how to go about actually do it! She’s a manipulative person with narc tendencies so I don’t know if it’s worth…
Hey all – I've been working on a dysfunctional Finance team for a few years. The CFO (my boss) has been stringing me along for 6 months about raises and promoting me from Assistant Controller to Controller (the Controller was fired in May and I took on the responsibilities but not title nor pay). My annual review was glowing, as I had taken on all of the new responsibilities and was getting things done more efficiently and accurately than my predecessor. He told me he was going to “take care of me” with money, only to give me a 2% raise. He said if I thought I could do better than that elsewhere, I should go for it and he'd be happy for me. I could see he was full of shit and didn't really value me. I took a few interviews and ultimately landed an offer for $100K at…
Had a full mental breakdown yesterday
Sorry for the long rant. But I had a full mental breakdown at work yesterday and I was stressed to my limit. We were slammed and the other two receptionists (A and N for this post) weren't doing anything. I do most of the speaking/handling payment while it's typical they process paperwork and I read over it with customers. Well, they were doing fuck all, leaving me to do a million different things, deal with clients, answer phones, file and go over paperwork, etc. It was incredibly difficult. I felt I was managing pretty well for one person. The rudest coworker is N, she and I have been at odds with each other since I started a year ago. We've had meetings with HR, peer mediation like were 6, and now we just coexist. She won't change and I will never appease her. One client, I forgot to add a…
