When I got my job I went in pretty optimistic. But when I stayed for a bit, I realized I didn't love it. But I like the benefits and the hours so I stayed. They asked me to take a temporary promotion a little while back so I said yeah sure. I didn't like it, and felt overwhelmed because it didn't really jive with my work and learning style, and the pay increase was miniscule. So I went back to my old role. I really don't want to do this job forever, I just want to do it to pay my bills and I'm casually looking for something else. My work has a funny way of paying you for promotions. They put you on a learning wage instead of full wage, and this can go on for years. So they kept asking me to take a promotion. I didn't like…

Should I take the risk?
This is going to be a long one I’m sorry, I’ll do a tl;dr at the end. Long time lurker of Reddit but I’m having trouble deciding what to do so I want to ask here. Basically I work at a small pharmacy. It’s not retail, we supply rehabs and nursing homes. I really do like the job and most of the people I work with, however the management is really pissing me off. During my training I was told shift openings are offered to everyone in order of seniority. So if someone working there quits or changes jobs, the shift lead walks around and offers it to everyone in order of when they started. As of late though this hasn’t been happening. I’ve been getting outright ignored and it’s kinda getting to me. Since I started (about 5 months ago) I have applied for 4 different shifts. One in…
The fact that nobody is talking about small tier suppliers that are employed by the big three, and how easy it is for them to say no shows true colors of what the auto industry has been the last few years. If this continues and 38 more plants do close I can’t even imagine the outcome. They think people can work for free and in today’s age that’s physically impossible, they also say money can’t buy happiness but it sure as shit can give you peace of mind, that’s all I need to live my life. The fact that they can even negotiate like human beings should tell every single person what’s what. If you don’t know now you know
Sent home without an explanation
Just a quick background: I've been at this place for about a month now. I've never once been late. I have came in on my day off when called. I'm usually 10mins early, on average. I'm the best at upselling to customers, just based on our staff scores alone. (We have a little scoreboard that tracks our points.) Hell, I do whatever task is given to me, and I go out of my way to volunteer to do other tasks. Earlier today I was just sent home with little to no explanation as to why. A vague mention of “complaints”, then essentially told to gtfo when I asked what I am alleged to have done. Just vague, unexplained allegations. I have no idea what I am being accused of, and now I have to wait for the manager to “say that [I] can come back.” What the fuck?
Long time worker, first time poster
I used to believe you shouldn’t complain but instead improve your conditions, but this modern world doesn’t seem to accommodate for that. I’ve been hopping around jobs for the better part of a decade now, and I took in a lot of internalized blame for leaving places, but more and more I see it’s bad management most of the time. Everything’s feeling more and more scummy, jobs I’ve had have no issue selling things people don’t need, either a useless product, or not a fit for a customer. It’s all about doing meaningless work that profits it feels. Most recently I’ve joined a lawn care company, a few months ago a coworker passed away at 37, it was upsetting, but we’ve heard not any more news other than he passed. One day I was given his extra responsibilities out of no where, no questions, no additional training aside from how…
hey yall i have a question
so i work at taco bell and last night someone offered me 3 bucks as a tip, but from my past jobs and this job i was told i wasnt allowed to accept tips, after they left the main manager for the night and some of my co-workers say the company isnt allowed to make me deny tips so i can take them, i looked this up and it says its true but i just wanna get more confirmation as much as possible so i dont get in trouble
Hey all, So I've been suffering from wrist strain/carpal tunnel due to a physically demanding job (packaging and distribution type job). I've been compressing my wrist, which some friends commented on. When I explained to them the situation they said that my employer is required by OSHA to provide wrist braces and back braces, etc. but I cannot seem to find any language in OSHA's standards to back that up. Does anybody know what the deal is? I think my employer should definitely be footing the bill for equipment that will at the very least reduce further injury, but I want to back myself up with legal precedent before I demand it.
I was working at a small HVAC company for two years. Basic call center stuff with a HUGE turn over rate. I was their “senior” worker. I knew everything about that place and it’s operations CSR wise. I was fired today and they claimed it’s because of layoffs? They even let me go pack up my shit and go when typically everyone just gets their stuff mailed. I think they’re covering up the fact that they don’t like that I have intermittent FMLA. I have been having a tough year and after a hospital stay I got on it. I am shocked, sad, hurt, and angry. I wanted to leave but I just wasn’t ready. My boss gave me a $50 Amazon gift card and said good luck. I’m screwed
Hi all, need some advice here. I am a graduate student with a very full course/study load. This summer, I was working full-time at a sleezy mom and pop resort masquerading as a $500/night beautiful hotel. A lot of stuff they do there is questionable, if you're interested I can explain more. Recently, school started back up again. I asked to be cut from 5 days a week to 3, but they initially only gave me 2. Now, after my 3rd call out (with a note each time) in 5 months, they have cut me down to one shift per week. I could barely afford my bills with 2 days, and with only 1, I will not be able to survive. Obviously I need to find a new job, but my question is this: should I just quit and not go to my shift tonight? I am still sick a…
