Over time, I hate it, part-time. I like it better. The catch is that they can hold you for a 16, and it wouldn't technically be OT. Screw 16s, screw OT, screw any ambition involving a career or money. Screw everything that involves working outside of the family, hobbies, and self-improvement. Work is good when it's done for the betterment of yourself or loved ones or God. But the conventional workplace is outright evil. Keep the change, and screw my social security. It's not like it's gonna be much anyway.
Month: September 2023
I can't even comprehend how you mess that up when it literally verifys your identity! Only found out because I was trying to get into an app that allowed us to get our pay early and it said my SSN didn't match what the employer provided my SSN as…. literally how. Not going back to that place :') wish I didn't have to work to live man
Sorry if this is the wrong place but curious about thoughts – at the beginning of 2023 I got into a bad accident and had my jaw wired shut for 2 months for a broken jaw. I submitted and was approved for medical leave paid at around 50 percent. It was phone customer service and I couldn’t talk, so it was a tough spot. My bosses acted really weird about a week before I was due back and texted me multiple times stating I had to contact HR to be cleared to come back. When I did so I was told it wasn’t fair to be out so long and they couldn’t approve me to come back, I asked if there was anything I could do and they told me I was gonna too long they needed to hire someone else. When I got my final letter from HR it…
I've been working Front Desk at this hotel for three and a half years. Other than the Front Desk Manager, no Front Desk worker has been here longer than me—not much to show for it though—and I have been watching this ship sink the entire time. There are many improvements they can make here, not just to guest rooms but also to operations and systematics. All they do is put “bandages” on things and rarely follow up with anything. But that's an essay for another time. We have a Supervisor who has irked me from the start (about a year ago, I think). He's good with people (all for show), but he's not a good supervisor. When he started, he didn't ask for help, nor admit fault. If a guest asked him about some policy, he would make it up. I could tell he never liked me. He was threatened…
Just shy of being at this place 7 years, I'm the supervisor and “head machinist ” making 20/hr running 4 machines myself and coordinating the other 4 dudes that run the other 7 machines.
I need help using FMLA and PFL
(California) My wife had our baby in June and will be going back to work in November, (the 7th to be exact). So I will be taking my leave beginning on the 7th and for the full 12 weeks. BUT, now, I’m scheduled to have (minor) surgery on Nov 10 and will be off for 2 weeks after the surgery for that. So, my issue is, do I use FMLA from the 7th until the 2 weeks after my surgery, or just go on PFL for the full 12 weeks and don’t do anything for my surgery (aka, apply for disability?) ALSO, since my wife has used all her FMLA time for baby bonding, is there a way for her to stay home with me for my 2 weeks post-op? We live in California and both our employers have more than 50 employees and we have both been at our…
Unexplained Delay in a Pay Raise
Okay, so some quick background on the situation. I have worked for this company since June 22 and have been doing a lot of training this year with someone else in my company who does what I do as well. Overall, my performance has improved a lot over the last year and I was looking to get a raise to have my wage reflect the importance of what I do for the company and also be competitive in the field I work in. The company I work for has a huge turnover rate, and I know they would have a very hard time replacing me at this point. during my time there, i have probably seen 20-30 people start, and quit working for my company. Again, i have not even been there for a year and a half. Also, what I do is a very specific operation within the company…
