I have no idea what to do or how to go about this. I have a management position with the company that I work for. I really don’t like being a manager, but the money is better than I have ever made in my life, so I do my best to do my job the way upper management wants me to, but also, I do my best to be empathetic to my coworkers needs, and not be an asshole manager. I don’t want to be a bootlicking piece of shit and I have no intention of kissing upper managements ass just to get ahead. Today they told me that I have to fire one of my best friends, who I got the job, and I have to do it on Monday. While this decision didn’t come from me, I do understand why he needs to be let go, but I…
Month: September 2023
My previous company (small for-profit media company, less than 10 people) is pretty much in the hole because of really poor decision making and lack of focus. Two of us, myself included, got laid off in June. Then another two quit or got laid off a month later. And just this week I learned another coworker of mine got chopped. Recently they started an “ambassador” program made up of volunteers to basically help keep things going since the boss can’t seem to afford to pay anyone anymore. Is this legal since they’re NOT a non-profit and aren’t paying these folks? Even if it’s technically legal it just pisses me off…if you can’t afford to pay people, you shouldn’t be in business, period.
Started a moving job, I'm scheduled for 5 days a week, today is my first day we still have another house left to do, and it's already about to be 4:30….and today is supposed to be considered an “easy” day so I can only imagine what the hectic days are like
Title is the gist of it. My coworkers baby has covid and made her come in today. It's crazy to me, because both our managers are mothers and they just didn't want to cover for her. It's real fucked.
We’re super short staffed because we had a bunch of people quit one after the other. So instead of hiring more people they started scheduling everyone for nine hours a day instead of 8. Oh and we also work off the points attendance system so if you leave before your scheduled shift you get points.
Dad got fired on his lunch break.
My dad is a sales manager and runs a new location for a company, he knows his craft and made this company a lot of money. God knows why he doesn't ask for a pay raise and commission, especially since he has another part time job when he doesn't need it. It all started with a customer who's order wouldn't be ready for another week, thats what my dad was told by the product provider. She calls demanding for her order because she needs the product, dad tells her he would need to charge her for a rush order. She pays for the rush but later my dad is informed the product was delivered early, even though he was informed the order would take a week. Today my dad got a call from his boss on his lunch break and was asked to go to the main branch to have…
A bugs life
We are the ants, and they are the grasshoppers. Flik we need you
It’s been a month and I work at a desk job where I occasionally take calls and I’m in my own cubicle. I’ve been wearing my AirPod in one ear in secret cause I have longhair and didn’t want to ask if it was okay or not yet. I asked my boss and was told I’m not supposed to but they know some others who wear one in the office. My boss then said it’s not policy yet but I just messaged the upper boss to make it policy. Everyone seems chill there so idk why my boss is against it! It doesn’t affect my work in any way and they play music out loud so I really don’t get it… idk if I want to push back since I’m fairly new but this is ridiculous.
The job position has been posted since I started there (they need a full time employee and I could only do part time due to LIVING OUTSIDE OF THE STATE WHERE THE JOB WAS LOCATED; my skills are specialized and they were desperate to find anyone to help them out. I flew in/out every day for work), they've treated me like absolute shit over the past eight months of working there for no reason, and my contract states that I do not need to provide any notice whatsoever. I found a significantly better (and higher paying) job, so I resigned. I gave them a week's notice to be courteous (could have given 2 weeks, but I wanted to take a week between jobs to relax, get my routine back in order, etc), and they're still talking shit about me. Die mad, bitches.
