Basically, I'm “canvassing,” our supervisor drives us to an area with tenants on the voter registration list and we record data like who will they vote for state senate. There are homes with signs that say NO TRESPASSING and NO SOLICITING/POLITICS, even one sign stating the owner is armed. I asked two different supervisors what to record these houses as, since there are various options depending on if people answer the door or not and what they say. They've placed extreme importance on accurately labeling the situation, and I care about the election so i want to properly perform my job. I don’t want to get too specific about the details, so I can keep myself and my company anonymous. But I am thinking about quitting tomorrow cold Turkey without a backup job in place. Long story short, my boss is engaged in some unethical and shady stuff that I fear could blow up on me the longer I stay. He’s also just been disrespectful and emotionally abusive for a while. So I don’t even want to give a 2 weeks notice. I do have a month of savings. I am doing some food delivery on the side. And my husband can provide for both of us on a tight budget if I don’t have a new job in a month. But I am pretty sure I could get a teaching job where I am as they are in high demand and I have experience. Am I being crazy? Please help.

Exactly as my title says. The company that hired me back in June-July, after months of just not giving me hours, decided to terminate me. Holy shit am i laughing though. Their reason was because wasn’t getting hours (they were not scheduling me), and i brought that up. This happened over phone, which means i was able to record the whole conversation. Who the FUCK fires someone because THEY refuse to give them hours. I caused trouble about the lack of hours before (promised 20+ a week and given zero), and they do this. I’ve shared the recording with some friends and they collectively agree i could look into a lawsuit. But i am curious as to how many others have this experience Edit, forgot to mention, i fall on the Autism spectrum, so one of my friends thinks they could have violated certain disability laws as well

Im recently in the job searching process, and I applied for a job that required a resume, a full application, an assessment, a personality screening and then a one-way video interview. It feels so humiliating. I feel like I’m jumping through hoops and to top off the fact that I have to prove I’m qualified to do the job, now I have to pass an age/race/sex/attractiveness inspection. Aren’t interviews supposed to be a two-way streets? I’m always full of questions because my quality of life matters to me and I have to be sure they are right for me too. On top of all this, there is no mention of how much the position even pays. The message being communicated to me is that my questions aren’t important and what I bring to the table is ultimately decided based on what I look like. It feels so dehumanizing and disrespectful.

I've worked here for five months usually I fix one or two trucks per day. I got a massive load of work Friday, but completed work on all ten trucks assigned to me. Monday I come in and it's the same thing ten trucks all with the same problems as last time I fix two Monday. On Tuesday I has to wait for material and finish the rest Tuesday. Wednesday I did not come into work but called and text the boss. Thursday I did not come in until four hours after the start of my shift. The way this subreddit was shown to me had to do with the Chinese movement of ‘Tang Ping’ or ‘lying flat’. This movement seems to me like doing the bare minimum to have a simple and subtle life and never going above or beyond. Sounds depressing and induced by years of oppressive communism. I don’t remember the second stage of this, but it basically had to do with workers saying fuck it and wandering into the countryside and woods to start living off their own determination, by themselves or in smaller communities. Some of these Chinese workers would actually lie flat at work in protest of the societal conditions put upon them. i interviewed for a club but didnt hear back for a while. before this, i had already given my manager my availability for the school year, friday and saturdays mornings, and thursday nights. i actually first gave friday and saturday mornings, but then my manager said that my availability was “too limited” and that i need to “add an extra day” so i gave him a thursday night (which confused me bc when interviewed for the job the owner said that 2-3 days a week is what students normally do during school). a few days ago, i learn i got the club position and need to request to actually change my availability from thursday nights to a different day, since club meetings take place on thursdays. im worried about what type of message to send to my manager or that he’ll get mad – and i need to be able…

I've been trying to find stable employment for a while now. The job I had before the one I currently have gave us one month notice that they're laying everyone off and also got a severance. At my current job, I got the notice that the project I'm working on is nearing completion and that my last day with the company will be on the 30th of September. I consider myself a seasoned/jaded worker at this point, so I see all jobs as temporary since it seems most businesses follow a hire-fire model to meet business demands/contracts. This makes sense from a business perspective as employees are a big expense for employers who want to maximize profits and societal instability.
