This is why people break company equipment. Told me that because everyone has the same problem it evens out. Bootlicker had a similar issue but stated they were fine because they get an hourly wage in addition to their bonus. Like wtf? I get hourly to help people, our bonus is there to incentivize us to sell or upsell people who may not be on board. Can’t wait to leave this garbage company.
Month: September 2023
So I got laid off July 31st, and I was in the Philippines at the time doing the digital nomad thing. So I only booked a ticket for September 19 to US to send it back and the company started asking me for the equipment after a month which is reasonable. I don't seem to have the macbook box, the google pixel box, lost the charger for the google pixel phone, and I also broke the google pixel phone while rock climbing in India (there's no screen cracks or anything it just seems like the display is damaged, like the phone's internal memory, causing it to be pixelated). I didn't say anything at the time about the phone being broken (never used it for work actually) because well I was out of the country. Fast forward to today, I need to return it ASAP. Any issues regarding this? What if…
As the title says, i requested an unpaid leave (which my job does not offer unless it meets FMLA guidelines) and got approved. My boss doesn’t really like me much but her boss does so I guess that helped. Anyways, my boss delivered the news but not by email/ in writing and I’m finding it a bit fishy. Should I request a response to my email or should I leave it as is? I work from home so she approved it informally through teams chat. I’m taking the time off to regroup btw. I am burnt out and not feeling well from work.
So this company I work for offers a bonus, a percent of your salary, if you have perfect attendance. Meaning never late and dont miss a day of work. So I got sick at the beginning of the week for only two days. Now I dont get my bonus. I’m pretty pissed off, for the entire quarter i’ve shown up early and never missed a day. Then I get sick and it was not a no show. I emailed my manager and let him know I was sick and won’t be there. Now I show up to work and poof bonus gone. What makes me more mad is that they dont realize they are incentivizing coming to work sick. I GOT SICK AT WORK. So because I was the responsible adult I get punished. Wow hate this place, getting my 6~8 months in and can’t wait to leave.
I feel like a huge jerk because I’ve been off all week. Extremely sick and we’re understaffed. (All the kids went back to school and someone who could work during the week was fired for stupid reasons) I said I couldn’t come in tomorrow after they tried to get me to come in. I told them I could hardly keep myself up ect. They said they’d check in tomorrow about me working all day Saturday because they need another person. Basically telling me if I don’t come in they can’t go to the wedding. What am I supposed to do? Am I the jerk here?
I work for a large nonprofit and we are currently collecting signatures from fellow nonprofits for an initiative that we support. Instead of you know, making a Google form with the letter and having these nonprofits fill out their stuff, management (without my knowledge) put me as the point of contact for people to get in contact with to sign on their support for this initiative. It's making a whole half day of work, often extremely confusing and convoluted because of poor preparation and communication, to collect this information when they could've literally just put their shit in a google form. I'm not even a tech-y person. I barely know how to use Microsoft Excel. I'm also not the youngest person in my company anymore (I'm in my early 30s). It's just infuriating how this is a perfect example of what poorly streamlined shit looks like. for such a tiny,…
Fired after my 2nd day…
I am at a loss for words. I worked as a shipping associate in a small mom-and-pop warehouse. Basically breaking down pallets, tracking inventory, and restocking. Today I received a text message that I am being terminated for “inattentiveness” after 2 days. I have not made one mistake at the job. Yesterday I went into work and they claimed there were 8 items not showing up from an order I tracked. I searched around and immediately found the box containing the missing order items. Not an apology or anything, just get back to work. I’m always yes sir and yes ma’aming everyone. I show everyone respect no matter what. I ask questions when I am uncertain to avoid mistakes (I ask logical questions and it’s never overboard to when it’s annoying). and I look people in the eyes and greet them. I go into work in an hour to pickup…
My girlfriend applied for an executive assistant role for a Christian academy, who then followed up her LinkedIn application with an email saying that the post/requirements were incomplete on LinkedIn and sent their full requirements as an attached document. This is discriminatory, right? Christian school or not? Seems mad unethical, maybe even illegal to be this invasive into employees lives.
We need to spend $$ to make $$
Hey folks. So I just want to bring to attention another disgusting rule to the dirty game of late stage capitalism, that I've said as an adage my whole life(because it's true) I honestly never see nor hear Any mention of as a whole phenomina. It affects us all. Everyone is aware of it, but havent really realized it IS. You hear it mentioned in discussion of childcare & education but not as a sentiment that applys to everyone. It is…you need to spend money before you can make money. Everyone has to spend $ to make it. Especially the poorer you are. Even the new “foreign student” or 70 yr old senior working pt at Walmart needs to spend money before they can earn it. Most new jobs have a period of 2-3 wks before you will be seeing your first Measly paycheck, but in the meantime to get…
Spends all day walking around the floor gossiping with other coworkers usually about things that aren't even work-related. Is never at her desk doing actual work (and you're still not even sure what she even does…) Has been at the company for 10+ years so she's probably making much more than you are. Is always hogging the bathroom for the longest time.
