At other jobs I've had overtime or working non-scheduled hours was sort of like an obligation or you got guilt tripped into doing it but now I work a full time 8 hours a day weekday job and they only ask me to work a Saturday maybe once or twice a year and it's more like they're trying to be nice and give me some extra money but I get SO annoyed. It's like ew leave me the fuck alone quit being so clingy!!!!!!!!!!!!! it feels so intrusive like you already get the vast majority of my life and you want more??????? fuck off

I've hit a breaking point at my job as a maintenance man for an apartment complex, and I really need to vent and seek advice. It's become incredibly frustrating, and I'm not sure how to handle this situation. My boss seems to take advantage of the fact that I'm dedicated and refuse to do a poor job. While I take pride in my work, it's starting to feel like I'm being exploited. The worst part is, it's not just about me doing my job well; it's about others not pulling their weight. I find myself going above and beyond, taking on tasks that aren't even in my job description, simply because I can't stand the thought of letting a work situation stump me. I have been in my job for well over a year at this point, but transferred to a new department about 3 months ago. I have a coworker who is in the same position as me but in a different office who I have to work with on a semi regular basis. We are unionized so everything is set at a certain level and there is absolutely no difference in our jobs. She's been working for our employer for much longer, but other than that we are doing exactly the same work. Also, I'm doing low level admin work. Nothing technically difficult. She's also a friendly woman, but I am getting a little exhausted with this one thing that keeps happening. Anytime I’m ranting about not being able to find a decent paying job my mom always regurgitates the same “You’re not gonna start out on top” “Stop worrying about the pay and just work” “You’re asking for too much”. Really I’m just looking for atleast $14/hr as a college student with 4+years in Fast Food and Retail. I can’t even find jobs offering to start me at $13. No matter how much experience and good qualities I have, I’m asking for too much or another candidate accepts lower compensation. my 4 month kitten went missing today and i have work tomorrow. Called them to let them know i wont be coming in tomorrow because im going to be out all day looking for him. They tell me its not a valid excuse to miss work and i need to come in tomorrow otherwise its going to count as an invalid absence. im heavily considering quitting at this point .
