It is that time again: annual evaluations. And as always it starts with self assessments where it invariably asks what I think I need to improve on and what I think my faults are. Like, if you haven't figured that out by now why would help you justify giving me less of a raise I could've otherwise had? It sucks to because if you just give yourself all 5s and say you have no room for improvement or have no faults that is used against you as well. Either they will think you didn't take it seriously enough or are lying in hopes they won't notice. It's not like any candidate has ever entered the ballot box and thought “you know what's the other guy is better than me, I'll vote for him instead of myself”.

Am I being mistreated by my company?
I work for a Hotel as a breakfast attendant and theres one other Breakfast worker. So a total of 2… we get on average 40-50 people a day so its not to bad but… a lot of days where i am alone with no help, they are busy days with over 100 people… my boss knows it will be busy but decides that me working alone to serve over 100 guests is such a great idea! This happens with my other coworker as well. We are exhausted and about ready to quit.
So my company just got a union
This is gonna be pretty big news, should hit in the next few days. Anyone wants to play the guessing game? Hint 1: We're in entertainment Hint 2: We've had lay offs recently Hint 3: We're not in the US Throaway for obvious reasons. Yes, I'm joining. I salute the mad lads who did it, I never woulda thunk.
This lifestyle hasn’t been working for a while. Hence the subreddit
https://fortune.com/2023/09/14/mike-bloomberg-golf-remote-work/ God forbid workers who are not in the C-suite are able to take a few hours for a round of golf, but don't question the actions of capital!
Basically a UBI. Companies should not get away with treating people like shit just to make them quit, or knowing the can't quit. Not saying unemployment should put you in the lap of luxury. But it should allow you to remain stable and not to spiral.
Is this legal? $90 smaller paycheck. I had no idea about this and they did not communicate with me that it is automatic after my 90 days. I called to have it removed and of course…. Nope! You can put your percentages at 0 but your next pay check will be affected too! The one after will be back to normal. Tried calling the “financial” company they go through and of course they try to upsell me. I have my own retirement fund AWAY from my employment. I'm so sick of everyones hands in my money. Anyway, is it legal to be auto signed up for a 401k? Nothing was ever said to me about this. The financial company is called principal. It looks like a scummy company upon further review. In the US. Can I recoup my money?
Today is the third consecutive day where there has been no work for me to do upon arriving to my department. The first day, I made some work to help stage parts, the second day I did a bunch of cleaning and organizing. Today is day three and I no longer feel like I should even pretend like I'm keeping busy. The company recently instated a policy which requires all employees to maintain 40 hours a week to recieve health insurance, and I have a wedding trip to pay for in a few weeks so leaving early isn't an option. My machine will stay off and I will remain sitting at my workbench watching One Piece until I get my 8 hours in today. Kinda feels like a waste of my time if I'm honest. AMA job related or One Piece related but no spoilers, I just got through Alabasta.…
Some back ground. I work for a cable provider in a brick and mortar store. We do cellular sales , internet and cable TV. It's a small team 5 people, including a manager. About a year ago, we had a disgruntled employee quit on his way put he dropped every bit of gossip and hear say he had. It started a dispute over sales and other things with an employee I will simply reference to as jones. At the time I came out and flatly apologized and burried the hatchet, complete unequivocal apology (even though he didn't deserve it) and things have been good for a year. I'd even go so far as to call him a friend, and he just left for a 10 day vacation. SO IMAGINE MY SURPRISE, when i'm pulled in the office with HR and two upper managers. And am grilled about an entire list…
Sorry for long rant… For context: We got new manager 6 months ago. I guess she's trying her best, always trying to help someone even if it means to force us to talk about our personal life. I told her multiple times on our 1:1 meetings that I will NOT talk about my personal life, my feelings or anything else not related to work on work meetings. It's uncomfortable for me. On our first 1:1 meeting we had a huge fight, because she told me there's something wrong with me for not wanting to talk about my life on WORK meetings. She even had the audacity to tell me that my boyfriend must be so frustrated with me because of my attitude (I've never talked about my relationship with any of my coworkers). Story: Today we had Retrospective meeting where we talk about last two weeks of work. She started…
