Just got fired for having shingles
So last Friday I found out I had the beginning stages of shingles which is very painful. The week before last I had been made a job offer and quit my job to accept a position with my new company. Well I felt it best to let my employer know I had been diagnosed with shingles and wanted to inform them since I intended to be at work this morning. Well I was told last night not to come in until thepotential risk to my coworkers could be properly assessed. Well depending on what you read on the Internet it's really not that big of a deal when it comes to other people but very painful for the person with them. Well I received a call this afternoon letting me know I was being let go for attendance issues and that the company needed someone who was healthy enough to…
I’m currently crying in the parking lot cause I just wish it was easy as back then. Well from what I’ve heard from my parents. I live in McAllen Texas. It’s one of the cheapest places to live in Texas. Right at the border, growing city. Many have found out about my city, from bigger ones, making them move down here, causing prices to go up but not pay. If you’re lucky you’ll find something at 15.00 hrly. Funny because in San Antonio, nearest biggest city, McDonald’s pays 15. Here they pay 9-11.00. To rent a apartment here is about 950-1200 a month. I was about to have a interview to be a library clerk, 10.00 a hour. You need to get paid 20.00 an hour here to live comfortably. For 10 an hour I didn’t expect to be interviewed by 4 people at once. Was this necessary? Do I…
My(23) gf (21) got a job as a pharmacy tech for a big supermarket chain. When she applied for part time, she gave them her availability (max 32 hours a week, she plans to take more college classes, does not drive yet, and also is heavily involved in our cities theater community) Lately they have been scheduling her towards the end of 1 work week, and the beginning of the next, making her work 7-8 days in a row. Thats 56-64 hours in one weeks time. They are doing this to avoid paying her overtime. They say they are understaffed (big suprise) but no one else is working 8 days in a row. Everyone else that is staffed is only working 5 days in a row. The manager makes these schedules 1 month in advance, and they are never exactly the same. My gf has had to put a hold…
Fuck Casinos.
My son has a broken leg. He went to a job fair, painstakingly might I add, and gave resumes to everyone there. He was then called by the manager at the casino/resort. They asked him to come in for a job interview, when he got there, they turned him around, after he painstakingly got ready, prepared a big thing speech/tons of ideas. Then went through the effort of driving there, which is a 40 minute drive. Crutched his way there, spent 30 minutes waiting, all for this bitch to come out and say “only people 19+ can work here” LIKE WHAT THE FUCK. YOU MOTHERLESS FUCKS SHOULD HAVE FUCKING SAID SOMETHING WHEN YOU CALLED HIM. I’m so fucking done with the unprofessionalism in modern day business. People need jobs and money and holy fuck. How can you say you wanna hire someone, especially someone injured, make them go through the…
Reference being held hostage
Within the past few months, my boss has advised that he has been slowing down towards retirement. Therefore I have been searching for a new position, in a state I really want to live in. I have received several interview opportunities, and have even been given notice that an offer is coming. My boss and I get along very well, and I have been with the company almost 9 years. I have survived/stayed through multiple other employees coming and going. The boss's wife has even gone to say that its family here. (I am the only employee and have been for the past 4 years) . This new potential offer inquired if my boss would be willing to give a reference and based on how we have operated, I did not see any reason why they would not be willing to do so, and notified the potential employer of such.…
Hello antiworkers I really enjoy my job but the company I am working for is clearly exploitative. I was hired as a department head’s assistant. I helped him with some day to day stuff as he got to know my work ethic. I am now taking on most of his multi month long integration projects or helping out with another department head. I could work for a year straight and still not get everything done. With all this work and learning on the go I constantly miss my breaks because im too focused and “company policy” says I cant take my break late. Is that legal?
I currently make $21.83. My current position initially hired at $21, and now is offering new hires $23-24 due to inflation. I've been very frustrated because I'm the highest performer in my department, and am one of the least paid. My job heavily focuses on data analytics and machine learning for context. I interviewed for and was offered a position that would begin next month. I was also the top pick for two different departments, and was given a choice of where I wanted to go. I know that the people who currently work in the position I chose make between $26-30 an hour. So tell me why the recruiter called me today and offered $23.83? I told her that I consistently have had the highest quality scores despite knowing that I make much less than the people I've helped train, while having double the responsibilities. She said she would…
