I do remote contract work. I wasn't able to get all my work done by the deadline yesterday because something was wrong with their system. When I explained the situation, they told me they'd give me a one-time exception but I should try to get it done earlier in the week next time. I get it done on time every week. I should not be held accountable for something completely outside of my control.
Month: September 2023
Specially with two coworkers who have thrown me under the bus. WTF should I be fake-nice to them after they stabbed me in the back? ️ Fml. I hate working in an office.
Layoffs were unnecessary and driven by investor panic. Every company who did layoffs knows they did it only to appease Wall Street and follow their peers. Don't give me the over-hiring, AI, or some other BS reasoning. Some companies are genuinely struggling but that's their business model and burning VC cash to blame not over hiring. Watch the changes like these: – Salesforce is hiring back people after firing a bunch early this year – Meta is throwing happy hours and bringing back laundry services to “boost morale” Everyone who was laid off suffered but these executives don't give a shit. CEOs say “taking responsibility” but none of them had to resign. Sh*t leadership. I can't wait for the job market to open up so the employees can get back control. I know it is going to get worse before it improves. But hopefully, 2024 is better.
NEVER EVER, such BS
What? Is this satire,?
Fired unjustly,
So I am a guy who's engaged and already has a family, I also don't disclose anything about myself at work that is my personal life. I was hired by an employer back in February of 2023, and I was an Assistant Manager, I worked with females, and they were all young, between the ages of 18 and 25, My manager was even a woman. So work was okay, but a lot of the employees I supervised didn't listen to the rules, and when I reported it to my manager, I felt it was favoritism and sexist because she was playing both sides of the fence. She would instruct me to tell them to not do something, then turn right back around and defend them, and it wasn't the first time. So after working at that location for about 2 months, I was on the phone with another co-worker, about…
That’s It! – An antiwork anthem
Was looking at the forbes 100 list the other day and thought “I'm sick of this shit” and then wrote this song about it. Please enjoy. That's It! – NeighborKid
Burnout from alcoholic boss
TLDR; alcoholic boss has drained me and sent me to the brink. how do I get through the next 6 months to save up for quitting and travelling? I (26F) started my government office job a year ago. I had just finished my masters and wanted a break before starting work but the right opportunity came along so I said I'd go for it immediately after finishing up my thesis. The job involves research for an important policy topic which I'm passionate about, so I was initially really excited. However, I quickly realized I was not going to be supported by my manager – she would log on at 1pm everyday, no replies to my emails, no direction given, I just had to infer what I was meant to be doing the whole time or ask colleagues below me in the hierarchy. Sometimes she would give nuggets of info or…
So, I do not work at the plant, but I live in the community and have several friends and family that do. Georgia Pacific is one of the biggest, if not biggest employer for our County. We got hit head on by Hurricane Idalia on the 30th of August. Lots of trees down, and a lot of people with either severely damaged or destroyed homes. Today, Georgia Pacific posts a press release that they're closing the plant in November. They said the decision was made prior to Idalia but the post is full of employees who were finding out from Facebook. I know at least one person who lost their home, and their adult child also lost theirs, and now are having to start looking for work on top of everything else. I know that corporations are shitty, and with this being Koch owned it's even more likely to be…
When is enough enough?
I seriously believe my boss is trying to get rid of me rather than allowing me to transfer to another department as planned. Our team was threatened with downsizing because we wanted to offload a time-consuming task to a different part of the team for whom it is much easier and quicker (that's whose role it was originally too) so we can focus on our primary tasks. Today I was again threatened with termination because of a very minor thing that doesn't even affect anyone and can be easily fixed. It wasn't my fault either. When is enough enough to where you would just say screw it I'm done? Oh and I've been told to stop talking about my planned transfer and not complain about bad management.
