I really need help. I'm in Tennessee so labor laws are sparse and getting ahold of the Labor Board has led to voicemail after voicemail. I quit a job recently and the employer is claiming he overpaid me in over $1000. I started at $25/hr, then my position changed and he put me at $22, then I started making tips and he put me at $12.50. He is claiming that I've been making $12.50 the entire time so therefore he overpaid me. This is not only untrue, but I have texts between us of him saying we need to discuss my wage because $22 is too high. He will not show me the dates or timecards of said overpayment. His message: “Mistakes were made on your previous paychecks. After speaking with my attorney, I was informed that “employers can fix payroll mistakes on future paychecks thanks to rules in place…

Teachers Need Help
WE NEED HELP! I really hope this doesn’t get flagged as self-promotion – I am one of the people effected trying to boost awareness. We believe National attention is the only thing that will get any sort of motion happening. The American education system is failing its teachers in the 5th largest school district in the country. Teachers in Clark County, Nevada are in their seventh week of teaching with no contract due to the superintendent refusing to agree to raises that were budgeted for previously. It is illegal for us to strike, and our superintendent has been lawyering up for any form of protest we have. His latest move was to file a restraining order restricting teachers from using their own PTO to “sick out” and it worked. Please help us draw more attention to this. The district and the union are at an impasse with the district “refusing…
We all knew our healthcare system was fucked up, but… this job makes me wanna completely give up and take a dive off the goddamn roof. So many patients who spend their twilight years calling us, then Medicare, then us, then Medicare, and so on and so on… “Sorry, that insurance is out of network” because the multimillion dollar healthcare provider and the multimillion dollar insurance company couldn’t come to an agreement. “Sorry, there’s no VA authorization number on file. Don’t have it? You’ll need to contact the VA again and get that for us. Then call us back and we can bill that out.” “Sorry you received that bill for $10,000, we can submit a request to have that re-rated for you.” 7 business days later “Okay that’ll ONLY be $4000 now for ONE part of the BIRTH OF YOUR CHILD” My fucking god, the list goes on and…
A short rant. The pizza party has finally come to our worksite. I do not feel appreciated. Take your pizza, your rhetoric, and your “thanks” away from me. just venting my spleen. not asking for advice. waiting to be eliminated due to my age. meanwhile, the marker art is going well.
First day was also the last day….
I started training at a call center today and we were in training for less than two hours before the VP of the center came in and let us all go. Let us know it’s going to be slow season and with the economy the way it is they no longer have a need for us. Just Friday I received an email about how excited they were to have us and parking and what not. I don’t even know what to say…. What a shit show. I left my previous job with Amazon because the hours were really starting to take a toll, but holy cow. I guess I’m going to go back.
What should I do? They want me to take it home every day and charge it for 4-6 hours
Work exists within the confines of my life, not the other way around. So with that in mind I'm not going to go home early on Sunday just to be better rested for Monday. I'm staying out, doing what I want and if I'm tired then next day then I work at a tired pace. No more voluntarily giving more time to a job by sacrificing my life.
Wife and I are travel nurses. Had to cancel our contract as she was unexpectedly hospitalized and we were 2k miles from home. She applied for unemployment 3/23, kept submitting stuff but was not being approved. Fast forward to 6/23, she’s hospitalized for a month again after still not working since she applied due to ongoing medical treatment and has a physician note that was received by the PA unemployment people. We receive notice she does not qualify for financial benefits so we just give up and make it work on just my part time paycheck. Fast forward to last week. We receive notice that her employer is appealing her unemployment benefits. We are very confused because last we heard she was denied. We look at the exhibits in the packet and notice that at some point, they fucked up and changed her employer to a company in our state…
I work my ass off in a non climate controlled warehouse and I’m specifically really sensitive to heat and I sweat easily. Last week I bought a small handheld fan so I could at least get some relief. I was just told by a supervisor they are not approved and I have to put it away. This just pisses me off so fucking much. They don’t give a shit about us or how we feel they just want to exercise their minuscule power. The thing that pisses me off the most is I just have to take it. I can’t do anything. I’d love to quit just to stick it to them but I need a job to feed myself. Fuck America and fuck this shitty work culture.
