Month: September 2023
I work at a small retail store (similar to the size of the Apple store) and a professional pesticide company came in mid shift (as per the request of my boss) and sprayed poison indoors. The store is very small and I felt like I was breathing it in all shift. Is this safe? Is this allowed?
Am I being screwed over Legally?
So I work in tech. I make decent money. I am already looking for a new job though due to numerous circumstances and this place giving me a major headache. Anyway, I am on call but it’s for free…I have been called up a few times one of which I was up until 4am the next day fixing stuff. My state laws say they don’t have definitions on overtime but I know the FLSA says this is a no no. Besides getting the hell outta town. Is this legal? Making someone do a 15-20 hour shift lol?
I’m actually so pissed off. I rolled my ankle pretty badly and missed a few days last week between going for doctors appts and X-rays for it. On Friday they had me come into the office to do some admin work that was really boring, but like fair enough. Then my foreman insisted he had work for me to do at the site for today (Monday). I asked him to confirm he has some light work for me to do that I can stay off my ankle for, cause it seemed fishy to me. He told me I’m coming to the site just to sit in my car all day. I’d rather be doing the shitty office work they had me doing tbh. Like what the fuck is the point of having me sit there all day (I know there’s no point. It’s just so they don’t have to pay…
Quit my job to be a SAHD
After managing a wheel building/powdercoating shop I finally worked a notice and quit. Wife and I had our first and he’s perfect, and I was sick of missing so much time with him. I’d work 9-12hr days with no air circulation and no AC (in the south). I’d get home with no energy and would get super frustrated when my son got fussy. Finally told myself fuck this and turned in a notice. I got no thank you, no goodbye. Ran the show for 3 years and got nothing. Was expected to train everyone on my role and my boss took his 2nd vacation in a month my last week. Didn’t even text me that whole last week. 9 people worked there on 1/1, now there’s 2. Feel like I fled a burning building. Now I get to bond with my son. It’s such a weird feeling. Been employed my…
Benefits don’t pay rent !
The pay sucks ,but you have amazing benefits like health insurance and retirement. Soooo, tell the landlord to seek out the health insurance provider and the retirement account manager on making sure the rent is paid.

But the problem is that most of the posts are American, im from the Netherlands and such have different rules and laws. So my question is what are things i should look out for and/or tips that you couldn't find with a google search. Im on the spectrum as well if it makes a difference (i think it does but not sure).
