Hi all, Thinking of switching to a part time schedule. I’m so tired of working. I have a business I’m trying to get off the ground but working full time + the self employed is unbelievably brutal. I just want time to take care of myself so that I can make the most of my time off and my efforts on my business. How do I make it work? What about insurance and saving for retirement ? Any tips ? I have worked for this assembly company for about a year and a half. Over the course of that time there have been three times where one or two bedbugs have been found in the bathroom. No one has been fired. All they did was put little towers up, spray everything with lysol, and get an exterminator that does “bed bug control” to come through. Please forgive me if this is long but im just really upset. I'm getting really stressed in my new position at an insurance company. My new supervisor hasn't been very unwelcoming to me to the team since the beginning. There's things I notice about his management styles that I have not seen before within our company (I'm an internal transfer). He calls us out in the group chat instead of sending us side pings, which I think is unprofessional. Like we will get messages @someone saying why are you doing …..?! Or @someone, get back into this or that. Not to mention a lot of the times he has called us out cause she didn't even check properly. I'm late thirties, trained in entertainment industry before it fell down its own social media asshole of weirdness….I scraped by pretty good from the middle of last decade to the end of it. Then a health scare fucked that up and I retrained in tech and work in that field in a corporate place that pays very well but is horrible…. I work for a private daycare, after leaving other teaching positions due to my inability for a work life balance in such careers. Taking on a position where I would be paid by the hour, have smaller class sizes, and working for wealthier families(this would mean less coming out of my already empty pockets for supplies.) I started over a year ago and it is becoming more toxic and understaffed every day. My personal time is spent lesson planning, and when I ask for extra time on the clock they turn me down. I have never had a negative observation or write up. I am a hard working employee, often coming in early and staying late(not fucking paid.) I’ve been job hunting for months… trying to leave a toxic workplace. It seems that no matter the industry, there are TONS of job postings. However, I’m not sure whether employers are actually hiring. There are so many people who are in my same position, filling out applications, using numerous job sites to send in resumes on a daily basis with no movement towards a new position. I had what I thought was a promising opportunity a few months ago. Had a chat with the HR recruiter then interviewed with the person I would report to. She was impressed, informed me that a panel interview would need to be completed next. She gave me some tips on how to prepare. Which I did. Hi all – currently suffering in a position I was forced into. Had awesome position previously and the job was moved to another company within our company . I got force moved to another position and I hate it. It causes so much stress and ptsd triggers, my health is awful right now. I just want out. I can’t outright quit obviously because I need money for my family and bills. I don’t really have anything outside of this skill set so I guess it makes sense I was put there. I’m looking to get a certificate in Project Managment through Coursera and hope it helps with my job search. Which is going poorly and I’ve not been offered a single interview for anything outside the scope of what I’m doing, probably due to lack of experience. How do I get experience without experience ? So I wish to unionize my place of employment and I currently live in Colorado state in the USA. I am curious about if it illegal to threaten or fire an employee for talking about unionization and potentially if anyone has any resources or tips to make the process easier to do so.

My boss can’t afford to pay me more for the work I do but can take a 3 week vacation out of the country lol. Constantly talks about how the business isn’t making enough money, goes on vacation. Talks about how we will have to shut down if the staff can’t get it together. (Because we are the ones responsible to make sure this ship stays afloat on our McDonald’s wage) (The business loses money when the boss is gone because he makes a portion of the daily sales) Meanwhile I’m sitting here and haven’t taken a vacation in 3 years because I’m poor. I love how employers want to harp about money, how it’s everyone else’s fault but yet I’m the one sitting here and you’re the one traveling. Yeah ok buddy. Can’t wait to peace out of here 🤭
