Boss needs me to be “more busy” at my office job that was fleeced from me through a Temp agency. What are some ways to look busy, yet waste time? I’m trying to slowly quiet quit until December since they will not offer me an in-house role, using this experience elsewhere. Thanx!
Month: September 2023
So I had a effin weird night. I work in a very nice restaurant and today while doing my opening sidework I was standing in front of the line cooks rolling hand towels. I'm quietly going about my job when I start hearing kissy noises and banging on the steel countertop. Naturally my attention is grabbed and I lift my eyes to see this cook grabbing his genitals in front of me. My flight or flight response is freeze so I look back down and keep rolling my hand towels trying to convince myself this isn't actually happening right now and maybe he just has an itchy penis or something? (Which would still be a really weird health code violation right?) Anyway, he continues to use these wooden blocks to bang the countertop trying to get me to look at him and I continue to ignore for roughly a minute.…
After being laid off from my previous job, I searched for a new position for 3 months and took the first nice offer I came across. I've been working at my this job now for a couple months, and I've never been unhappier. The CEO is the absolute worst. I'm the only person of color in the workplace; the CEO makes a comment on my race almost every day. He has said some very, very, off-putting things about people of darker skin, as if to try and compare me as a “better” person of color. He's very condescending and disrespectful in the way he talks to me, and pretty much anyone else. I recently went on an unpaid vacation (because I haven't accrued enough vacation time yet). We had fully agreed on the dates, and the fact that I wasn't going to be paid, but that I also wasn't going…
Leaving job early
Hi everyone, I'm currently a prison officer in the UK but I've decided it's not for me, I'm stressed all the time and I'm just not happy, it's a shame as I was really excited to give this job a go but I think it's badly affecting my mental health, I gave it a go but I'm not the right person for this kind of job. I've been offered a new job which I think will be much better suited for me but it starts in less than 5 weeks which is less than the notice required for my current job. To be honest I'm thinking of just leaving my job now and not working the notice period, I know I shouldn't do this but I've worked my entire life and want to take a few weeks just relaxing, also I just don't want to be there, I don't mind…
I quit for the first time today
Ive been with a large bank for the past two years and after giving a generous 4 week notice of my resignation my new boss (just met this dude like 4 days ago) calls me into his office for a discussion about my future performance over the next 20 days until my voluntary termination. He stated “i know your leaving soon but.. theres been two days this last month that you didn’t make enough calls” Then proceeds to condescendingly explain how i need to play the corporate game until i leave because it’ll hurt his report if i don’t He finished by tasking me with a quota of calls for the rest of the day all whilst having a fully booked calendar of appointments and to that I replied, “I’ll do you one better, ill get off your report today” Stood up, shook his hand and walked out. Plus it…
https://www.huffpost.com/entry/bill-maher-real-time-writers-strike_n_6502652de4b034d7e741a390/amp He’s bringing his talk show back on the air and saying five months is long enough while dismissing WGA as “kooky.” It’s always great when a multimillionaire dismisses the concerns of underpaid as needless. I’m just curious why his scab behaviour isn’t getting the backlash that say Drew Barrymore got? And quite rightly so.
I'm a lawyer, but at the place I'm working in there are lots of dry spells. So they can go weeks without getting any work and then one week they'll have work back to back. Irrespective of the work, I know that this job isn't great for my career. I'm not learning anything here, I'm not getting experience I can put on my CV. So far, the past four weeks have been me sitting on a seat and staring at the screen for 9 hours while doing nothing. The pros for this are that I'm not mentally ready to be at a fast paced job, so this works I guess. I dont have to work at home so if I leave work, I leave. They won't call me at 10pm and tell me to draft a case note like they did in my last job. There's also the office. It's…
Moved to a very expensive area, got a good job so I’m doing alright financially but not great and need to get a 2nd job to live comfortably (merica🦅). I work 9-5 Monday-Friday so I’ll need a job that I can work evenings (late isn’t an issue) and weekends. Problem is I don’t f-ing like to really do shit to be honest. What’s a part time job that fits that schedule that I honestly just don’t need to work that hard at? Appreciate any comments. Thanks.
Another greedy CEO

Quitting this job, FINALLY! It has been a nightmare working for them, but the final straw was when they told me I couldn’t have my birthday off in 5 and a half weeks bc they need 7 week notice to get one singular day off….nahhhh Petty reason to quit, I know, but this is the tiny straw that broke the camels back
