Quitting this job, FINALLY! It has been a nightmare working for them, but the final straw was when they told me I couldn’t have my birthday off in 5 and a half weeks bc they need 7 week notice to get one singular day off….nahhhh Petty reason to quit, I know, but this is the tiny straw that broke the camels back

Saw a job posting for a collection agency, I have had dealings with some collection agencies and they're all scum. What do you think of my cover letter?
NO. We can not, because the system itself is fundamentally flawed. This economic suffering, wealth inequality, and constant assault on worker solidarity is the necessary and expected result of fulfilling a capitalist society in the late stage of its existence. Can we escape capitalism in the US? Yes. But there are many, absurdly powerful obstacles that must be overcome, and we must find a way to unite all workers. In the US, the first obstacle which must be addressed is reversing citizen's united, which is a 2010 decision which allows corporations and other outside groups to spend unlimited money on elections, and further we must remove all big money, and especially lobbying, from politics all together. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citizens_United_(organization) There are exactly 2 ways to reverse citizen's united, and they both are extremely difficult currently, despite 77% of the US having an interest in removing big money from politics, and a staggering…
I've been in state and local government (Australia) almost my entire working career, but am becoming more and more disenchanted with my new director who is creating toxic chaos on a daily basis and methodically trashing my particular branch, along with the wonderful staff (about 50) that I work alongside. I potentially have an amazing opportunity to do specialised work in the private sector being paid my worth, with flexibility, lots of benefits, interstate travel, and a much greater level of respect. Would you leave if you were me? (Note I have about 15 working years still ahead of me)
I work for a “major” web platform. I have roughly 8 years into the industry. Been with this company roughly a year now. And for context, the team as a whole as had 1 one on one reviews with management regarding our KPIs. Our latest team member was a recent graduate who intern for us during the spring and went on to be onboard in the summer. She was informed that she was under performing etc. which is fine. Personally, she was improving, willing to learn, and putting in the time to get better. She was let go because of what I believe was inexperience. She was taking too long was current projects, she was logging her time at the end of the day instead of as we went, and largely more stuff driven by data. Now, I do want want to be that guy. I believe data is key…
Best generational wealth meme?
We’ve all seen the “when I was young, I was broke. After years of hard work, I am no longer young.” What’s the best version, or a completely different meme/cartoon, I could put up in my cube? My genX boss, who loves to say she’s not a boomer by two years, just gave herself a promotion and a raise so feeling very passive aggressive right now.
I made it almost 4 months. There was also a non compete clause that must’ve been separate. I tried to get fired then consulted a lawyer friend before quitting. Even had to deal with my bank/ rescind the permission I gave this employer to take money out of my account (they rationalized that would be if they overpaid me). I had a teaching degree when I accepted this position!
When I(17f) was 14 I worked as a dishwasher for a restaurant and went to school full time. I was working 5 days a week most of which were school days and I became severely burned out and depressed after a few months of living to work. I had no control over what I did most days as my daily routine consisted of waking up going to school going to work coming home and going to bed. I had no time to properly de-stress and began self harming a lot. I had a mental breakdown at work nearly every day and the thought of ending my life was being considered almost every day. I wanted to quit and focus on school but my mom wouldn’t let me because I had to “build up trust with my boss” I was eventually fired after I was caught running a box cutter across…
It is true that wealth has been greatly increased, and that the average of comfort, leisure and refinement has been raised; but these gains are not general. In them the lowest class do not share.. . . This association of poverty with progress is the great enigma of our times. … There is a vague but general feeling of disappointment; an increased bitterness among the working classes; a widespread feeling of unrest and brooding revolution.. . . The civilized world is trembling on the verge of a great movement. Either it must be a leap upward, which will open the way to advances yet undreamed of, or it must he a plunge downward which will carry us back toward barbarism. …
Can fed’s announce the recession news sooner (if we are there or not going there or something) 🤦️🤦️
