Email claimed that the Primary Care & Health Workforce Act is dangerous and would destroy access to private health insurance. We were asked to call our senators to voice our opposition. I am a medical provider but fully support universal healthcare and will not be opposing this bill. Nearly every other country in the civilized world has this and is doing fine. We should join the party.

I'm doing my best to just not care whether the company fails or not. But as someone who takes a lot of pride in doing my best work and seeing positive results, working underneath completely incompetent senior leadership and being forced to carry out terrible strategies is so demoralizing. For context, this is in the media/journalism sector, and the job actually used to be pretty great. But starting last year there was a creep of micromanagement from above that involved stripping any creative input and decision-making from the editorial teams. It's gotten to the point now where we're barely even allowed to write our own headlines. Most of them are composed by an AI and then adjusted by an SEO specialist who has almost no knowledge or experience of the subject matter. The headlines are awful and hard to read and traffic is suffering as a result. The worst part…

Inappropriate comments from boss.
Hello all. My wife is facing some issues at her job and I don’t know the best route to take. Monday my child had a febrile seizure and turned blue. The ambulance had to be called and my wife had to leave work early. She never calls off and she already had the rest of this past week (Tues- Friday) scheduled off with PTO. As soon as she left work the owner of the store she works at (she is the GM) starts telling the staff that she never gets anything done and always calls off and just goes off on her while she’s on the way to the hospital. She has called off twice. Once last October when this happened the first time with our child, and once in December. She has not called off once since and anytime she has it is completely covered and she works from…
In October I’m flying away on vacation and two months ago I put in my vacation request (I have not received it back denied or approved yet) and now I’m finding out that my workplace is deciding to make that same week a blackout week nothing has been posted yet or they haven’t told the employees to be fair in October. There is usually a 4 day blackout but they’ve always told us months up to 3 to 4 months in advance and it could be any week in October and it’s not usually the same week as the previous years! What should I do? Any advice is appreciated
I’m working in a travel company in Tokyo. My boss thinks places where we do reservations are grateful to do business with us as we are giving them customers. Tbh, I find ridiculous because why would a 4 star hotel or a popular restaurant in Tokyo needs us? These places can be fully booked without the inconvenience of having to deal with us. Besides, does he thinks hotel staff are happy that rooms are fully booked? Servers probably hates us for booking the half the restaurant too. To give you a little background in Japan, most employees were given fixed wage and incentives no matter how busy they are, unless they do overtime which everybody hates. There’s no tipping here. So just imagine their horror every time I call to make reservations for 100 people. My boss is not Japanese btw
I work at Ford, Michigan Assembly Plant, Local 900. Half my plant is officially on strike. As we go through this process here’s some financial figures to remind us of what we’re doing. Here’s why we fight, and here’s Fords greed. Fords profit last year was $23.66 BILLION dollars. Mind you, that’s not revenue, that’s profit. That’s what’s left over after the company pays all its costs. Even during Covid, one of our slowest economic times in recent times, Ford made a profit of $14.39 BILLION. Ford currently employs 57,000 UAW workers. If Ford Motor Company DOUBLED our wage, it would cost the company roughly $3.81 billion. That’s right folks. If ford all payed us double our salary, all year long, they’d still have made out with almost a $20 billion dollar profit to reward shareholders and fund buyback schemes. We aren’t even asking for double, we are asking for…
As a bit of context, I got my University degree this June, and after a few weeks of well-deserved rest I decided to look for work. Being limited by my mobility, I needed a job easily accessible, which limited my search more than I expected. The first few weeks were very though, as most interview ended up sounding like “do you accept being paid minimal wage to start and would you mind doing some unpaid overtime when needed ?” to which I always responded by “I didn't do the university to be paid as much as a secretary” and “I work to live, I don't live to work, so no free overtime”. With those response, most boss were like “don't worry, we will end up finding someone desperate enough to work with those conditions” and never called back. After that, I decided to work with “headhunters”, people that do the…
