Help! My whole office was terminated…

Hi everyone.. I’m looking for some advice.. On Wednesday , I went to work, and 2 hours later my team of 6 people including myself was all terminated without cause. We were all working in a employment service , in Ontario. I personally have be there for a little under a year, where some of my coworkers, have been there for 1 year to 5 years. We were all given the same letter, saying that we were terminated without cause , because we were not a good fit. None of us had prior warnings, or expected this. I started a job at Burlington yesterday, and I noped out of there within the first 15 minutes

Last week, I accepted a part-time job as a receiving associate at a Burlington store. I had promised myself that I would never work in retail again, but I'm having it hard right now, and I thought working in the back would be better than working out front with the customers. I guess I forgot that coworkers can be just as unbearable as customers. I did my orientation this past Thursday and was scheduled to start work on Friday. During orientation, the HR lady briefly introduced me to the lead receiving supervisor. The supervisor came across as somewhat cold and unfriendly and didn't seem very interested in meeting me. I tried not to think too much of it because I know we all have our off moments, but it still left me feeling a little uneasy. Work Trouble

For context: I live in the UK and am on a 0 hour contract. I have worked doing deliveries for a huge fast food chain the past few months, never called in sick, done extra shifts and have had no warnings. I called in sick this week for the first time and was told I still had to go in and it was non-negotiable, I was kinda dumbfounded and didn’t say anything and the manager said “I’ll see you soon” and put the phone down. An hour later I called again as there was no way I could go to work, I was sweating, coughing, etc, just genuinely felt awful after already going in and doing my full time 9-5 job, I couldn’t continue working till late at night. Chick rotiss appreciation?!

Throwaway because I’m not trying to have HR come after me. Buckle up for one of the weirdest employee appreciation gifts I’ve ever received… So, this week is employee appreciation week. Today an email was sent from someone in HR to myself and a couple other executive assistants/admin support people. The email was the standard “thanks for all you do” / “we appreciate you”. They also gave us a heads up that an instacart order would be coming to our office around 11am with a little gift. Well, the gift showed up and guess what it was. Costco rotisserie chickens. One for each of us. (Plus a bag of chocolates for each of us). Now, I love a Costco chicken as much as the next person but this was an absolutely absurd gift. Approaching management about private contractor misclassification?

Hey everyone, hope this is the right place to post about this. In short: I work for a music school/ company that hires all teachers as private contractors. We do private lessons at their location, as well as outreach classes at public schools. I believe they are breaking the law by mis classifying us as private contractors and my coworkers and I are preparing to do something about it. Details: A group of us have realized that we are being misclassified and are writing a letter to the management stating that we demand a change in classification. This will be hand delivered at some point in the next month or two with the hope that they will comply and make us w-2 employees. Out of job description activity

Hi all, just looking for advice. My work (been for 2 years) has clients all over the country (US), and some of the clients i work with are in the area i live. One of them (a company) is full of people who are blatantly rude and disrespectful. Meeting with them through zoom and communicating with them on emails isn't super fun but it's virtual so not the end of the world, but that changed today. My boss told me one of the top ppl in management wants me to go to meet with them in person since they are in the local area. Pissed off.

I work for a small local employer doing factory work, the whole thing is like the wild west. There's no policy on attendance or tardiness. I would often show up a few minutes late. I'm really good about being there but I have been late. 6 months ago my TL said I needed to improve my punctuality or they would have to consider some form of counseling. I started being on time but then everyone starts showing up late and calling out. They now have an epidemic of call outs and tardiness. On Thursday my TL says I need to sign this paper saying I'm going to be on time for the next 30 days or I'm fired. I tell him to eat shit. Boss Screwed Over Entire Workforce On Holiday Pay?

I work in a foundry. The labor is hard and dirty. Our boss recently switched us from a typical 8 hour shift, Mon-Fri to 10 hour days, Tues-Fri. The change took effect the day after Labor Day, a paid holiday for us as long as we work the day before and after. Today, when we received our checks we were only paid for our 40 hour week and no holiday pay was given. Am I crazy for thinking our boss fucked us over on this?

Owners take product for themselves

I used to work at a nerdy type business (think board games, trading card games, etc) before quitting due to incompetent ownership. The business was started by someone close to me (with immen$$$e help from family). So, this person and their fiancé are the “owners” (family still helps with a lot of business stuff). One of my biggest frustrations among many was the amount of product they would take without paying for it. New board game looks interesting? They’ll take one plus any and all expansions. New TCG set comes out? If the big money cards are ones they needed for their decks, they’ll take them when opening cards for inventory/stock. Sometimes they’d take cards just because “I love that character!” Now, this wasn’t every set, but if they both need copies of a $50+ card, you can bet they’d be taking for themselves first.
