My wife is a Nursing Clinical Instructor for a nearby college. When she “applied” she was quickly hired after simply presenting her credentials and received an email saying how much she would receive for the semester. She is now two weeks into the semester with a group of nursing students and has yet to be paid. After reaching out about payment she has now been told she will be receiving $3,000 less than what she was originally told. What should she do?

How to get a manager fired
Technically, he’s just an assistant manager. Our team is divided into three groups and each group has some sort of a leader aka assistant manager. They are called assistant manager because they don’t have HR powers and only lead projects. There are three of us under this AM and he sort of leads three projects, where in each of us separately work. But he is aweful. He doesn’t know project management. He’s not technically brilliant either that we don’t rely on him to come up with a solution we haven’t already thought ourselves. Anyway, all three of us agree that he’s just a bad manager and leader. He works hard, if you call having meetings everyday work, but he doesn’t know how to lead. He doesn’t set a goal but always assign tasks. I feel bad for our other two team mates because they are younger and just do what…
Corporate lawyer checking in, just got out of a fun seminar for some California continuing education, which included a good bit on the importance of handling unions correctly. As a union family I couldn't help laughing from behind the corporate mask the whole time. tl;dr: it's easier than ever to form a union, and if your employer makes big enough mistakes in handling your attempt to unionize, the NLRD will default them into recognizing the union. We recently had the Cemex decision: https://www.nlrb.gov/news-outreach/news-story/board-issues-decision-announcing-new-framework-for-union-representation when a union requests recognition on the basis that a majority of employees in an appropriate bargaining unit have designated the union as their representative, an employer must either recognize and bargain with the union or promptly file an RM petition seeking an election. However, if an employer who seeks an election commits any unfair labor practice that would require setting aside the election, the petition will…
Do they even want to hire?!
Rant here but over the last 2 months I have interviewed for 5 positions where I met requirements, asked below high end salary range, and not only was ghosted but they reposted the position. It is cool you did not choose me but how the hell do you need someome ASAP, waste mine and others and managers times to interview 6 or more people then decide you want a unicorn. Like, what even is this world?
What you've all been waiting for. I'm here to provide the update to this post. First up – thank you to everyone who sent wonderful words of encouragement and support. I really was just venting my frustrations but Reddit rallied around to prop me back up after experiencing yet another company for the third time in a row asking me to do unpaid work for a real client (as opposed to a dummy client for the sake of the tasks) as part of the job interview / hiring process despite the fact I am very qualified with a lot of extensive expertise and experience in my field, with proof and examples of this across my portfolios and websites. Asking job hunters to do a list of unpaid tasks for real clients as part of the job interview is something that sadly is becoming increasingly common – even though it is…
Sorry if this is not the place to post this. Long-story short, I will not be able to afford staying in my apartment much longer. I am simply not able to keep on like this. I also owe multiple relatives A TON of money and I refuse to continue down THAT dark path. There only seems to be one option. Move out. Perhaps I can liquidate some of my belongings and others I can rent a storage unit for. My job simply does not pay enough and I cannot find part-time work that compliments the hours of my full-time job. This is my worst nightmare. This sucks.
