I really wish my GM didn’t just tell me this

I live in a 1 party consent state to be clear up front. I am going to send an email to both DM and GM as a way to get this in writing I know how to handle this situation even in an employer friendly state that is IN. So to begin I work at a restaurant, a peice of equipment that I work with every time has been left on all night multiple times and this is a dangerous thing leaving the kettles on overnight leads to multiple different problems. Every time this happens I say something and it's fine for a while. I understand accidents happens people are forgetful I understand all that but I've been trying to tell them multiple times and it still happens more than it even should. Eventually it stops working and I'm down a kettle. Pissed off as can be not happy and…

Depression at new job

I’ve been working at this company for a few months and it’s been really stressing me out. I’m a fresh grad and most of my coworkers are over 30. I feel like no one respects me at all. For example, our desks can be raised, and one morning I was working while standing and then my boss asked me why I’m standing up. I told him it’s good for the brain in the morning but he said just sit down it’s better for you, I’m just looking after you. Another day I was writing a report and a coworker asked me if I had ever written a report before and that it’s terrible. I had just started writing professional reports a few days prior. When I told them this, they said if I didn’t learn anything in college. The report itself wasn’t bad, it’s just that some sentences need to…

Seriously feeling bad for all these third party job recruiters for big corp

That’s not to say they don’t carry any of the blame because believe me, they didn’t have all their eggs in the right basket too. But man. You wanna talk about miscommunication, disorganization, laziness. FedEx, Amazon, Mastec; all these big corps are having hiring agencies and job recruiters to do all their dirty work for them to the point where you have way too many hands in the pot to get anything properly done. Taking a drug or a background screen isn’t exactly rocket science (I know it’s a little bit of science) but you don’t need to conjure 5 different heads to carry out a hiring process. They simply don’t give a shit enough because it will cost them money that they have. And that’s incredibly disheartening to middle class people trying to learn and become better work people without having to spend 10’s of thousands of dollars they…

The power dynamics between the interviewer vs interviewee need to change

I was thinking about getting a new job recently and I started to think how the employer garnishes so much power over the interviewee. The same over used questions –why do you want to work here, why would you be a good fit, name a time you handled conflict well, what makes you qualified– and for the most part we answer those questions in a position of necessity. I just think it should be a little bit more even, for instance, if I was to go work in my small town I would like to know what that potental employer can offer me, and why should I take time out of my day to work for him/her. I guess it hardly works that way because there's probably plenty of people willing to work for this hypothetical employer, and there's one of him. It's like a supply and demand thing. Maybe…

I won’t be using Frontier Airlines – The CEO’s rant

The CEO of Frontier Airlines apparently had an anti-telecommuting stance, blaming it on his companies problems, and went on to complain he has to hire more people because the ones he has are all lazy….due to telecommuting? I didn't know ramp agents or flight attendants worked from home, but if this is the caliber of leadership their company has, why should the public he just insulted use his company other another? I could write 16 pages about the issues here, but I wonder, who is the CEO that made Frontier an ULCC versus the Jetblue of the west as I heard it called before? CEO says people got lazy from working from home (although you can work anywhere, I see in office people working in public all of the time). Frontier Airlines CEO Barry Biffle criticized working from home while speaking at Morgan Stanley's Laguna Conference this week, saying the…
