Am I being too hesitate?
Hey yall I’ve been lurking here on and off for a bit. I don’t know where to even ask this question. I currently make $22 hourly working remotely. My job isn’t the worst thing ever but I’m always browsing job markets especially after long days. I am in the process of doing a second interview with a director for another job which pays $28 hourly. Both jobs are remote. The benefits are a little bit better at the first job, not by much honestly. They both have pros and cons like unlimited vacation at the new job vs only VAC accrual time at my old one. My old job does offer free schooling but only 4 classes a year at university. My coworkers at the moment as well I can tolerate. The clients though are the fucking worst. Idk should I just say fuck it and take the extra pay?…
I cant remember, but few months ago i read somewhere about a company got their employees angry for removing or reducing remote work? can anybody remember and tell me?
Where I work I can take checks from customers for payment. However, the main office requires them to be business checks, no personal checks allowed, with a check number >= 1200. All well and good, except that exactly what the office requires wasn't adequately explained initially, and like with most of what they tell me, what they want seems to change over time or isn't fully explained until they have a problem. The process of how it was explained to me over time was essentially Checks are OK Not all checks, though, only check numbers over 1000. Only checks over 1000 from a business. No checks with a person's actual name, just business name. Check numbers must be at least 1200. We'll take some personal checks, but only if the owner or [supervisor] knows them personally I work by myself 99% of the time, so if someone wants to use…
So I work as a Human Resource Assistant. I have been at my facility for a year and when a higher up position opened up I eagerly applied as my education background is Human Resources and I figured that would make up for the lack of “real world experience” in fact the minimum qualifications even stated education could be in place of experience. I make it through both rounds of interviews but ultimately my Chief Human Resource Officer decided someone with a bit more practical experience was needed. Fair enough, no hard feelings. Well the job ends up getting cancelled because no interviewees were a good enough fit. Again, no big deal these things happen… flashforward a few weeks and the same position is reposted with a slightly different tittle. instead of a specialist it is now an admin/specialist. and instead of encouraging a current and again fully qualified employee…
I’m not doing a virtual interview
I've applied to several jobs that have asked me to do a virtual interview. Now I know you're thinking “oh, it's just a zoom meeting. Whats wrong with that?” Nope. They want me to record myself answering prompts. I'm not even talking to a real person. Why on earth would I want to work for a company that can't even be bothered to be in person for the interview? I'm not quite that desperate yet. I have no issue doing phone or video interviews, that's fine. I'm at least speaking to someone and having a conversation. I refuse to work for anyone that can't be bothered to even say hello to me.
Micromanager emails me in scary tone
I’ve had a micromanager for about 10 months now (for context I started 12 months ago and she started 2 months after me). I’ve been doing my best to maintain professionalism, learn to adapt to her learning style, etc., but she’s very intense and makes things very difficult to do my job. At least 1 out of 4 weeks I’m so anxious to the point where I can’t eat, sleep, exercise, or live a normal life. The only reason I haven’t started looking for a new gig yet is because she doesn’t seem to be well liked by other managers (I’m the only person she manages), and I just got a promotion that could eventually lead me to a different team. The one (out of many) issue with her is her email and chat tone. It comes across as very demanding and tense. I always feel as though I’ve done…
Quick synopsis. I have an hourly job in an industry that while I don't necessarily enjoy, I am compensated enough to live comfortably. A recruiter reached out to me and expressed interest. I am in a stable job and have no incentive to leave, and I genuinely like my co-workers. I told this individual that for me to consider the position I would have to be compensated at least 40/hr. His reply was that it was a salaried position, so I countered with 110k per year. I was told that was very far outside the range for this STARTUP company. This was my reply. “That is completely OK. Unfortunately, and with all due respect, I am not in a position to entertain job offers that have the potential to abuse the title of a salaried position to under compensate and overwork employees. If you have a salary range,…
so one of my coworkers, let’s called him Mark (fake names of course) likes to have these conversations that usually require a lot of discussion. his choice today was whether Fedex and UPS are the same company, or own by the same company. he was the only one who thought that, every one else said it didn’t make sense. our boss comes out to agree with the majority. the bell rings for our break to end, but Mark googled about whether the two companies are the same. he comes back with “Fedex is a private company while UPS is a federally owned one.” All of us hear our boss yell “No” from his office and kind of laugh it off. but he comes out, getting what felt like a little fired up, saying “That’s USPS, ya know, the one with United States in the name? Both Fedex and UPS are…
This is not a satire question, so you may come up with honest opinions about the impact on the job market and the American economy as a whole.
