https://fortune.com/2023/09/14/mike-bloomberg-golf-remote-work/ God forbid workers who are not in the C-suite are able to take a few hours for a round of golf, but don't question the actions of capital!
Basically a UBI. Companies should not get away with treating people like shit just to make them quit, or knowing the can't quit. Not saying unemployment should put you in the lap of luxury. But it should allow you to remain stable and not to spiral.
Is this legal? $90 smaller paycheck. I had no idea about this and they did not communicate with me that it is automatic after my 90 days. I called to have it removed and of course…. Nope! You can put your percentages at 0 but your next pay check will be affected too! The one after will be back to normal. Tried calling the “financial” company they go through and of course they try to upsell me. I have my own retirement fund AWAY from my employment. I'm so sick of everyones hands in my money. Anyway, is it legal to be auto signed up for a 401k? Nothing was ever said to me about this. The financial company is called principal. It looks like a scummy company upon further review. In the US. Can I recoup my money?
Today is the third consecutive day where there has been no work for me to do upon arriving to my department. The first day, I made some work to help stage parts, the second day I did a bunch of cleaning and organizing. Today is day three and I no longer feel like I should even pretend like I'm keeping busy. The company recently instated a policy which requires all employees to maintain 40 hours a week to recieve health insurance, and I have a wedding trip to pay for in a few weeks so leaving early isn't an option. My machine will stay off and I will remain sitting at my workbench watching One Piece until I get my 8 hours in today. Kinda feels like a waste of my time if I'm honest. AMA job related or One Piece related but no spoilers, I just got through Alabasta.…
Some back ground. I work for a cable provider in a brick and mortar store. We do cellular sales , internet and cable TV. It's a small team 5 people, including a manager. About a year ago, we had a disgruntled employee quit on his way put he dropped every bit of gossip and hear say he had. It started a dispute over sales and other things with an employee I will simply reference to as jones. At the time I came out and flatly apologized and burried the hatchet, complete unequivocal apology (even though he didn't deserve it) and things have been good for a year. I'd even go so far as to call him a friend, and he just left for a 10 day vacation. SO IMAGINE MY SURPRISE, when i'm pulled in the office with HR and two upper managers. And am grilled about an entire list…
Sorry for long rant… For context: We got new manager 6 months ago. I guess she's trying her best, always trying to help someone even if it means to force us to talk about our personal life. I told her multiple times on our 1:1 meetings that I will NOT talk about my personal life, my feelings or anything else not related to work on work meetings. It's uncomfortable for me. On our first 1:1 meeting we had a huge fight, because she told me there's something wrong with me for not wanting to talk about my life on WORK meetings. She even had the audacity to tell me that my boyfriend must be so frustrated with me because of my attitude (I've never talked about my relationship with any of my coworkers). Story: Today we had Retrospective meeting where we talk about last two weeks of work. She started…
Using mobile app, so I apologize for any formatting problems. Also, a bit long winded. As the title states, I was terminated in IL, for addressing a potential security concern. I'm curious what my options are, in an at will state. I can only find resources on discrimination. One of my union employees was suspended, pending investigation for alleged sexual harassment. I overheard from a group of other employees, that this individual has access to guns, and has quite a temper. They seemed very concerned that if he were to be fired, he could retaliate. I did not address the concerns with the group, and went directly to my boss (department manager) with this information, who then took it to the plant manager and HR. Later in the day I met with HR, who was very upset. She accused me of discussing an ongoing investigation, and told me that I…
UAW keeping it real.
From the article: “If we signed up for the UAW's requests … we would've lost $15 billion and gone bankrupt by now,” -Ford CEO Jim Farley See my comment for the link to their profit report (I don’t really know what I’m doing and it’s only allowing me to put one link on the post). $15B would hardly bankrupt the company…it’s a little less than half of last years profits alone. I hope the UAW stick to their guns. This is a big deal.
Hope UAW can keep up the good fight
Shawn Fain, president of the United Auto Workers Union, has told NBC News it was a shame that negotiations broke down but that his members were striking for economic justice. “We didn’t want to be here. We want a fair agreement. We want fair economic and social justice for our members. That’s what this is all about. And it’s a shame,” he said, speaking at a Ford Assembly Plant in Michigan. Fain said the bargaining committee had delayed and “dragged out” negotiations on pay but added that the wider issue was how the industry transitions to electric cars in a way that’s fair for workers. Asked whether a 20% pay-rise might sound attractive to most American workers, Fain argued that the price of cars has risen 30% in the last four years while auto industry CEOs’ pay has gone up by 40%. The union also wants an end to forced…
