My company makes us take vacation days before unpaid days, even if we scheduled vacation days in advance. So if you schedule vacation days at the beginning of the year, run out, and something comes up where you need a day off, you have to switch one of your vacation days to an unpaid day. If you have scheduled vacation days left in the year. Pretty dumb but whatever. I scheduled Halloween off in January as a vacation day. Something came up and I had to switch Halloween as an unpaid day so I could get a vacation day this month. My boss approved the vacation day right away but won't approve Halloween off as unpaid, because “she has to wait and see if anyone with a vacation day will put in for that day, because they will get Halloween off instead”. What the actual fuck. I had that day…
Month: September 2023
I just found out today, after looking at my paystubs and talking to my boss, that my company rounds down my hours if I don't clock out in a perfect 15 minute increment (0:00, 0:15, 0:30, 0:45). Some days they took off 14 minutes from my total time worked that day, other days 3 minutes etc. Is this legal? I'm in Colorado. Thanks!
Hi. This will be too long because i don't know how to explain my situation without being specific about it. Please hang on, i need your advice. I'm 21 years old and today i had my first day working at a cafeteria near my department. My closest loved ones told me to search for a job so that i could get busy and stop spiraling into depression and anxiety. Of course, my plan is for me to be able to invest in therapy and live a fulfilling life some day. I have had a couple of jobs before as a waiter so i felt confident in my capacities at the start of the day, but this job asked me to perform and be flexible at lots of other tasks that maybe I wasn't prepared for. The app from the which the cafeteria registered every order made had so many intricacies,…
I work at an email job with a little bit of customer interaction. My workload is split up into two people, but my coworker was recently fired after being excessively late and calling out. I was assigned his work and told it would be temporary but it seems like it is going to be a permanent arrangement. I am swamped with work. I am backed up for the first time since starting at this company about a year ago. I address this with my managers but get told to wait as they find someone else. My manager asks why I stopped sending her a recap of the daily work I’ve done every day. I let her know that I can only do that once the day is nearing an end and I’ve been busier than usual on account of having to do the jobs of two people. Additionally I can…
This happened to me just once, it was and over 10 years ago, but I still found it very unusual back then and whenever I told other people in my profession, it shocked them as well. I am wondering if anyone else had a similar experience with their boss. Long story short: it was my first job after graduation and during the job interview I somehow allowed the hiring manager/future boss to have a short chat with my mom who I was living with at the time. He was asking questions about my experience and my living situation must have come up in a topic of discussion. Anyways, at the job, problems were beginning to show for many. There were issues with the payroll, making false promises about raises among other things, and people threatened to leave. Morale among workers dropped but I especially displayed it because I kept showing…
How to get fired.
What is the safest way to get fired in order to qualify for a severance package? Or is it possible to leave/ quit and still get severance? Employed with company in finance sector for 7 years, currently on unpaid leave.
My boss is evil
I work a retail job for just over minimum wage. I have open availability, because openly available colleagues get more hours than closed. Anyway, this means that my manager can schedule me for anytime of the day/night. Today she announced that there’s a new shift we should be expecting to see, starting at 3:30 IN THE MORNING. I can’t believe how casually she told us that now we’re expected to wake up for work in the middle of the fucking night. For literal pocket change. I need to get a new job 🥲
Do better Home Depot.
Saw this stand next to the return register. I wonder what the ~super hero snack~ is lol.
I work for a startup that clearly has been having cash flow issues over the last six months. At one period between May and June, I had three months' worth of pay pending. The situation has since improved for me but as of today, I am still owed my pay for the month of August. Some colleagues have been owed pay since June. Management has been sending updates loaded with promises about inflow coming from investors over the past weeks but there just doesn't seem to be any traction. I just see it as BS to string along the employees. A colleague of mine was in a 1-1 call with our boss. The boss wanted to change some processes because there hasn't been much content posted. Colleague mentioned how there is nothing wrong with the process. It's because the team has no motivation. The boss said that WE, the team,…
