Month: September 2023
I just got hired at a retail store. I had 2 shifts (around 4.5-5 hours each) this week. My manager said I would have my schedule by the end of the day on Monday. It’s not Thursday and I still have not received my schedule. Is this something I should worry about? What should I do about it? The schedules are made 3 weeks in advance so I’m thinking that there just wasn’t enough room for me to be put in, since they already scheduled everyone else to where they would have enough people working each day. I’m not entirely sure though, so I thought I would ask here.
Need help to know if I am overreacting
Background: I am depressed. I told my work in week 33 after it had gotten progressively worse, and asked to go down from 50% to 30%, reducing my KPI goals from 5 to 3 per week. I did this because I saw that I reached an average of 3 per week, and hopes this would make it easier for me to keep working. My team manager said yes, but the higher ups looked at my recent numbers and said we had to think about of this would be a viable long time solution. Eventually they also said yes, undet the condition of it being a “trial period”. Lots of things happening due to personal reasons recently, those details is not really important right now, but I did also ask for two weeks off in October due to an aniversairy of an negative event. I didn't tell my boss more than…
I posted here a few months ago looking for recommendations and got some excellent advice. I don't post often and I'm not sure how to attach that post to this one but this is kind of an update, as well as a rant. The most important thing is, I got out. Old boss tried to force me back in the office with no warning. We couldn't find a situation that worked for us both. I couldn't stand the migraines, the heart palpitations, or constant need for her to be in control. She couldn't stand that she had no idea how to do the work I did or that I'd found out what my role was really worth. I purposely left before the end of a normal workday to have the greatest impact without saying a word. Haven't had a migraine since. I've stayed local and started a similar job in…
My request was denied so… I asked several times including again today but… they wouldn't give it to me. I was not being heard at all. It's okay to call in sick in that situation right?
I work in childcare and everyday that I’ve come to this place I’ve found at least three new reasons to quit. I found another job that is significantly closer to my home and doesn’t make the teacher buy their own art supplies. They want me to come in Monday to fill out paperwork and then start Wednesday. How should I go about quitting my current job? I hate confrontation.
So I’m currently working at a very popular sandwich chain temporarily before I start my new job. Before my start date they emailed me a bunch of training videos and quizzes to do through their app. It was unclear if I was supposed to do this training before I started or not, so I completed about six hours of training at home. I got paid on Tuesday and the training hours were not on there, so I asked the operations manager, who told me that the training is only paid if it’s done in store. So I wasted 6 hours of my personal time and didn’t get paid. Now I’m wondering if this is legal. My hours are logged on the app, so it’s not a matter of them not knowing how much time I spent on it. At this point I don’t think it’s worth pursuing anything if it…
