I was just laid off from my job at 22 weeks pregnant so that’s fun! They offered me a temporary position and the assignment would last me until right around my due date and then it would end (same salary I’m at). Whether I take the temp extension or not I still receive serverance. Idk what to do. Thinking about interviewing and going somewhere new during this time of pregnancy seems so stressful…and then of course having to tell a new company I’d need maternity leave so soon after starting. I think it’s probably better just to ride it out somewhere I’m comfortable until it’s time for this baby to come. I feel like the timing of this is so suspicious as I’ve been doing a great job at work and they’ve even recently given me more responsibilities. I’m so annoyed right now. I also have been loading up my…

How should I contact a recruiter?
If this is not allowed please remove. On mobile so apologies if formatting is weird. I've been searching for a way out of the hell hole I call my place of employment for almost a year now. I've been on indeed, linkedin, glassdoor, but of course I've had no luck in find a better job. I was talking with a former coworker, who I'm still good friends with, about how much worse it's gotten since they left. They then gave me a recruiter's linkedin contact information. This recruiter is how my friend got their current job which they are happy with. I'm not sure how to reach to them and what I should say. I feel awkward just randomly sending them a message, but I guess that's what they do right? If anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated.
working while injured
i had a reaction to a vaccine, and i am in the worst pain of my lift. the doctor told me to severely limit-if at all- any arm movement to avoid serious injury. i told this to my retail employer, as the job involves intense heavy lifting and raising arms to hang clothing. i was told off to the point that i gave up and agreed to work. i’m terrified because i could ruin my shoulder. the same thing happened when i was recovering from a broken spine- i wasn’t allowed to sit even though i was told by my physical therapist that i could re-break my spine and become paralyzed if i stood too long or exerted myself. i’m so tired of this.

After 7 years grinding in sales, I've found myself unemployed once again. In 2018, I got a job as a Business Development Rep for a software company. The gig paid 48k a year in Los Angeles and required me to make cold calls all day long. Did it. Eventually the company went private and I found myself interviewing against 16 other candidates for the 1 promotion that opened up per year. I found a new gig at another tech company. Again cold calls all day. The company went bankrupt a month after I got there and I had to find a new job 8 months later. Sick. Found it. It was a paycut, but I accepted and worked through the entire pandemic from home. This time as an actual rep, however again it ended up just being cold calls all day long. The company ended up going private, and guess…
This is a response in regard to this particular “Opinion piece”. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/business/commentary/article-return-to-office-remote-workers/?login=true Dear Editor, This is an open letter to the so-called “Canadian” reporter known as Gus Carlson who has been parroting the talking points from the pro-corporate right-wing pundits from south of the border. Your article, if I can even call that, clearly demonstrated how backwards your line of thinking has been.Calling the common office worker “entitled” for wishing to do remote work, and justifying such vilification of the working class under the alleged guise of “productivity has been down”? Cut the bovine manure already. We all know what's really going on. It's not about productivity, it's not about “camaraderie” or “creativity” (News flash: Co-workers and bosses are NOT your buddies). It's a combination of validating the egos of certain business leaders, the middle managers trying to justify their jobs and the mortgages that these companies have taken on…
Hardworking does not equal value
I recently had an article pop up on my feed titled “17 Low-Effort, High Paying Jobs That Have Me Reconsidering My Career Plan” The article is full of people talking about how much they make and how little work they actually do. Play video games, answer a few emails, go read a book, and make $70k a year. I read it and wasn't hopeful to get these jobs, nor was I particularly envious (maybe a little) of these individuals. What I really felt was angry. Again, not at the people who have these jobs, but at the companies and a system that has no idea how to value “work.” I say this because we are always told that hard work and effort are the keys to success, but that just isn't true. If hard work and effort were valued, the hardest jobs would pay more. Even accounting for the amount…
Throwaway I asked for a raise last year and my boss said that he can't give me a raise because I did not do a small task he asked me too. I work for a small company and I need to be a the clients house by 8:30am, sometimes the clients house is over 30 minutes away. So I don't have a lot of time to complete other tasks outside of my day to day. I was talking to my boss and somehow we got onto the topic of money and he said that it's not how much money you have its how you spend it. Basically I'm not getting a raise because I don't need one I just need to spend my money differently. Also my coworker who was haired a week after me makes $5 more then I do. I feel like he is giving me excuses not…
