Dejected By This System – Rant
My current hours target is set for 2500 hours worked in a year. We have 10 federal holidays, and have 2 weeks pto. For that time I am able to record 8 hours. That means i need to average 9.75 hours each and every work day. I was informed that lunch cannot be logged as non charge time. So my M-F (if im lucky and dont have to work on the weekends) consists of waking up at 6:30 am to get to the office by 8 am. Work until 6:30/7pm, then choose if i go to the gym or cook dinner because i cant do both. I'm depressed to the point I'm listening to 16 Tons everyday on my commute in and out of the office. I'm thankful to no longer be working in an iron foundry and in an office, but this is soul crushing. I'm told i need…
So, exactly as the title says. 30 minutes before close, on Mothers Day, on some random Sunday I don’t remember, and last Labor Day was the third time, our assistant General Manager comes over the radio and says we all are staying another 30 minutes past close, no one can leave before. This has been a problem for obvious reasons, especially on National holidays. People get rides from others, have plans, have life outside of work. I’m an hourly worker, so I’m still getting paid the extra time, but it’s so disrespectful without actually scheduling us or telling us until 30 minutes before. Anything I can do besides update my resume and just, not staying?
Please support all you can the UAW are fighting for the sole of the middle class what they win sets standards for all workers…
I have read several stories on here recently about people taking the brave step of resigning from a toxic employer and moving on to better opportunities. That's fantastic! However, I would like to offer one piece of advice: DO NOT DISCLOSE/SHARE/REVEAL ANY INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR NEW JOB TO YOUR CURRENT EMPLOYER WHEN YOU RESIGN! Honestly, I thought this was common sense, but apparently, it's not. Even if your former employer has been good or even great to you, it's essential not to reveal any details about your new position, your new employer, or any information related to your next opportunity. I've come across too many stories on here (whether true or not) about former employers sabotaging new job opportunities. If they inquire, consider lying. They often do the same to you. You can tell them you're taking a break from work, caring for a sick family member, or…

Upper Management Are Weasels
Why does this always seem to be the case? Always trying to word things open-endedly, so they can back out of whatever they say later. Just some backstory: I worked for a company (Company A) that bought another company (Company B) to expand their business. During this acquisition, I transferred to the new company to manage the IT infrastructure as it would be a step forward in my career, ideally going from a Sys Admin role into a management role. Part of the transfer included an immediate pay increase, followed by another increase in 6 months pending all projects for the acquisition were completed. There was also relocation assistance provided allowing me to expense part of my ~1,500 mile move. All of this is in writing, shared with my Manager/HR/CFO of Company A. 6 months go by where I'm working my ass off to ensure that all network & server…
