Was in a car crash at the end of June and have a herniated disc as a result. Luckily my employer is pretty generous and I get 3 months full pay for sick leave.( I work as a civil engineer which is rather physical, hence me not rushing back) I’ve kept regular contact with my supervisor and manager, I had just spoke to my manager last Friday and emailed him a new sick note to cover my absence from my doctor. Today my supervisor turns up unannounced knocking on my door and wakes my Baby, my wife was upstairs having just got her to sleep. He was here to hand deliver a letter to inform me as of October 9 my full sick pay will run out. I was on the toilet luckily so I missed him. Just really pissed me off to have my personal space invaded when he…

Show me the money shithead!!!!
Kinda felt insulting because we had a good conversation about my experience (still
I suffered a disc protrusion thanks to my job, I was constantly being made to repetitively lift 40 pound crates as a 145 pound woman with poor upper body strength. Because it didn't happen suddenly, I was having random leg cramps and hip pain for weeks and couldn't figure out why, I didn't report it as a work injury until a scan indicated a disc injury was the cause. Upon telling my boss he refused to believe it was a work injury because I didn't report it earlier and genuinely told me that I must have done it in my sleep because there's no way I could have done it at work, because it's not like I was lifting anything too heavy. I told my doctor this and she scoffed, said the only way I could've injured my disc in my sleep would be if I'd had a seizure and…
So is it remote or not?
Obviously I know if you take a vacation you lose PTO days, which is fair. If you want a day off, you take a PTO day. Again, fair. What’s not fair, is being forced to take PTO time for something out of your control. I live about 45 minutes away from work. I typically leave about an hour and a half early to account for traffic and being able to relax in my car before going into the office, so typically I arrive with about 15-20 minutes of me time in the parking lot. Well, the other day there was a wreck after I left for work. It closed off two of three lanes on the interstate, so traffic backed up really bad. It resulted in me getting to work 30 minutes late. I would’ve had to have known the wreck would happen and left my house over two hours…
I (24M) just got my first “real” job after college. Junior engineering position for a small company. During my onboarding i was told “We do you guys a favor by starting work at 7am so we end at 3:30pm so you guys can get another job” I was so shocked. Being a 24yr old still living at home with my parents I am not worried about paying bills. But the majority of the people who work here are 35+. We were also told “Remember guys if you want to build wealth you need a side hustle, that’s why we end at 3:30. This job won’t be enough on its own.” I appreciate ending early as I am supported and dont need to work another job currently so i enjoy my afternoons. But to the people who work a part time job after this one, why stay at this job? Oh…
Got fired for visiting my dying sister
I started a new job, an apprenticeship as a technician. I was doing amazing, did all the work 2x faster than anyone else, had mapped out all thier systems, the workflow, the infrastructure for gods sake. For 4 weeks I kept asking them to give me the logins for the rest of my training. They kept neglecting that, to the point I reminded my line lead and she pulled me aside and questioned whether or not I belong with the company??? I assured her I'd do whatever it takes to keep this job. My last 3 were hell. Anyways my sister then gets admitted to the ICU with a 50/50 chance of living. I spent the weekend at her bed, and come Monday I'm wiped out. Call in sick, yada yada. Keep calling in sick for a week or so before I get a doctor's note sorted on the 5th,…
