My office is on the RTO train. My department has been forced to switch from 3 to 4 in office days, which partially sucks with my chronic condition. I put in a request to go back to my previous schedule, and just received a response back from HR: /-You may utilize the wellness room in the office up to 3 times a day during working hours for a maximum of 30 minutes at a time./ /-You may bring in your tools and/or medication for joint pain into the office and utilize the refrigerator and/or your desk drawers for storage. Please confirm with me, your supervisor before bringing in any tools./ The wellness room being referred to is a converted office with a desk, a shitty recliner and a mini fridge. It’s usually meant for nursing mothers or nervous breakdowns. There are no restrictions for anyone to use this room. I’m…
Have to live with my mother because of rent prices and pay rates in my city. She wants me to pay even more of our shared rent now because I'm making more money. I've spent the afternoon scouring every website I can think of looking for an apartment I can afford in my area. Nothing. Zip. I don't qualify for rent for anything I can find because they all require you to make 2 or 3 times the rent price. Even if I could qualify, every apartment in my range costs an arm and a leg to move into with all of their hidden fees, app fees, etc. Anything I'm even close to qualifying for has a 1star rating with dozens of reviews mentioning bed bugs, roaches, etc. I make more than most of the people I know and I still can't afford to live independently. I'm 25 years old…
My current company has 80% of employees from one single organization of their previous line of work and you can see how they really trust people they know than someone not from the same industry/ line of work. For example, 1. Trusting them with more work than me although I have expressed willingness to perform the task 2. Them with no relevant working experience but starting from the same line and pay as me or higher 3. Only speaking in examples which I don't understand and makes me confused 80% of the time, they need not provide any general examples So burnt out and losing passion working here although the pay is reasonable.
The last time the government shut down for an extended period of time, the shut down only ended when Air Traffic controllers stopped showing up to work. They didn't have gas money. The entire country's airline industry was in danger of shutting down which directly affected the members of Congress that fly on the Red Eye. THEN Congress got its shit together to end the shutdown. So, Air Traffic Controllers, stay home. I know you're ordered to go to work because you're “essential” but two weeks into the shutdown, when you don't get that paycheck, you no longer have gas money and can't afford to work for free. Plausible deniability instead of insubordination. Do it. Do it for America!
Yo i’m kinda pissed off
I'm currently finishing up my outdoor instructor course, and I found a sea kayak guiding job opportunity for the summer (I live in the southern hemisphere). I had an informal phone interview with a guy who seemed to like me and my qualifications/certificates. He suggested that I go to the location of the sea kayak business. At first, I was hesitant because it's a 4-hour drive from where I am. The purpose of this trip was for him to see how I perform on the water. I assured him of my full competence and mentioned it shouldn't be necessary, but he stressed that it would enhance my chances of getting the job. Despite my reservations, I accepted because I was quite keen on the position, its location, and the benefits. I made the 4-hour drive, which cost me a tank of fuel (about $100 NZD) and took up 8 hours…
Electric Pallet Truck
I work at a warehouse in Ontario, Canada that uses electric pallet trucks. A few of them coast when the lever is pulled all of the way up. They are supposed to come to a full stoo when the lever is pulled all the way up. I asked the person who trained me and he verified this. Members of the JHSC tried saying they all operate different and its not a concern. One of these members is also an EPT/forklift trainer. Should I report them to the ministry of labour?
