Fired…but finish your shift
Anybody wanna tell me why… If a company fires you they are somehow shocked at your audacity to leave immediately and not wanting to stay 3 or so more hours to finish the shift? I thought it was logical that once a relationship is terminated, that's it. Sure, they will pay for hours worked but you've fired me. Why shouldn't I want to go do something else immediately. For context, I'm living in western Europe. Eff it all!
Sick time deducted
My job has been giving me extra sick time each month. They apparently just found out and now want to deduct the extra. Someone reviews and signs this at every paycheck. Is this legal?

Potential UAW Strike!
Today by COB the UAW will potentially launch the first simultaneous strike against all of the “Big Three”. I'm pretty stoked, but there's still a tiny chance the Big Three will cave and accept the UAW offer. Is anyone else excited? I wrote about this contract negotiation for my Ethics course project and have been following it for the last six weeks or so. There are huge implications for other sectors depending on how this goes, and I would assume other unions are watching this very closely.
UAW rolling strikes start tonight
UAW leadership and Big 3 automakers are still very far apart in labor negotiations so the UAW is calling for strikes beginning tonight at just a few plants. Instead of simply shutting down all work the UAW is choosing the tactic of closing a few shops at a time to ratchet up pressure on the Big 3. How many plants will end up going on strike before an agreement can be reached is anyone's guess. https://www.upi.com/Top_News/US/2023/09/13/uaw-ready-rolling-strike-detroit-automakers/8481694652982/
Hello. So i started working about a month ago at an Italian Restaurant where a good friend of mine worked as a Pizza Chef. They where looking for a Line Cook, so he called me (my friend) and proposed me to go work there. I gladly accepted as he is one of my best friends adn workinh again with him looked like a good thing. No issue woth the Head Chef or the kitchen staff in general. Sunday, at closing, i heard my boss talking to another Pizza Chef and speak poorly of my friend, saying bad things about his Pizza Making skills and how he wanted to replace him. He saw me, but kept saying it regardless of my presence. I immediately told my friend, that was off that day. My boss then called me and my frined in his office on Monday and told me i would be…
I want to be firm and say no, but I'm also concerned about them viewing me negatively. I'm a supervisor and I've already missed the first 3 unpaid trainings (because they never gave me any heads up whatsoever and I was always sleeping when they took place while the other supervisors were awake and able to make it while they were actually on the clock). So I'm the only one who hasn't been going to these. This time they actually did give me a heads up, but I feel like this is unfair for them to ask me to do this, not to mention illegal. But like I said I'm also concerned about my upward mobility potential, so I feel like if I were to refuse this time, after already missing the first 3 unpaid trainings while I was sleeping, they would hold that against me somehow. So I'm just…
I want to say I like this sub and I'm referring to a particular group of users They assumed I got fired for asking to take my break later, scolded me for it, “risking my employment” some were suggesting ass kissing.. 1)This is anti work and yall are scolding me for advocating for myself at work and not asskissing instead? 2)I didn't say anywhere on that post that I was fired. I also said I'm a temp as in I do temp work.. I am self-employed I deleted that post and blocked all those people so you'd have to use that deleted-post site. // I posted about working a job without a set break time. I wanted to charge my phone after being out with the delivery driver before going outside on break Manager gave me an attitude after asking if I wanted to take my break rn I said…
