My partner and I both lost our jobs this year and while we've had odds jobs and freelancing gigs that have kept us afloat for the time being, we really do want/need something full time to maintain ourselves. We both got within striking distance of offers recently. Here's how it went: My Partner: Four rounds of interviews, including a technical -> passed with flying colors ->received a job offer -> was told that the company just needed to complete its annual financial review and then HR could send begin onboarding -> offer revoked, company decided it didn't want to fill the position. He's crushed. Me: Seven rounds of interviews -> had to chase them down over the course of two months to get a straight answer over whether I was still in contention -> eventually rejected -> reached out to me later saying they might have another full time role…
Month: September 2023
More hours my a***. Bye.
I've been working at this place. For months now and just got a review. I was told I'd be eligible for a raise after 3 more months. Thing about that is, they can't even afford to pay their employees. We were told we'd be able to get 40+ hours by August. Nobody's hitting past 35. 30 at most for most. They also let people go early and pressure others to leave early because once again, they can't afford to pay their employees. They also need help but won't hire anyone. So no 40+, also because they don't want to pay benefits or for insurance. It's gonna be a fun last 2 weeks.

TW for mental health related content I (21, F, Autistic, ADD, CPTSD) just got fired for the second time in a year. I'm looking for advice and people to bitch to about my most recent job. I got fired for the first time about a year ago from a restaurant job. It was my fault: I was taking dabs with the manager in the parking lot. But, it did open my eyes to the reality of living in an at-will state, as they waited till my next shift to tell me I was fired. I live paycheck to paycheck (day to day at the time) so this was totally a mini fuckening to my already hardshipped fiscals. By the beginning of September, I'd managed to find another job full time at a hotel at the front desk. The work was low-energy and that met all of my autistic and mentally…
I wasn’t on Reddit last year
I have been wanting to post this screenshot. Needless to say, I left before I reached three months. Has anybody else experienced some BS like this when starting a new job?
I am not surprised that a millionaire thinks there is not enough pain in the economy to bring people back to work. To force them to back off on their demands for flexibility and work life balance. This is the mentality of the wealthy millionaires who own the companies. https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZPR7Jk8Dk/
