Just reported a job listing on Indeed.

Tired of seeing simple entry level desk jobs requiring a bachelors degree while offering a whopping “$15.25/hr” like….EXCUSE ME? Are they trying to sell this job as a big deal so you must be educated and thats worthy of the paltry 15/hr? Or are they just flat out saying ” fuck you, only the finest slaves willing to take on thousands of dollars in debt and forgo home ownership and parenthood because this position will fuckin change your resume in some sort of mind blowing way” Or how about simply “Fuck you I want the finest cream of the crop doormat”. I reported this job citing the requirement for the sub par pay. I said: “If the business requires the employee subsidizing it via subpar wages, than the business needs to fail. This job offer is not made in good faith.” I know it dont mean shit an slavers will…

Coworker filed a complaint against me because I apologized for their noise

Sorry if this doesn't go here since it's not about corporate work but I'm so tired of my job, I'm close to crying typing this because I cannot afford to quit and can't find another job. For context I (30F) am not American and I work at a community center, I'm contracted by the local government to tutor elementary age children, help with homework, etc. It's basically an effort to help kids being left behind in schools. Some kids come from very difficult backgrounds and situations at home, I have kids that are 9 or 10 that still can't read. Last week the woman that teaches singing lessons couldn't make it on her day and time (Saturday mornings) so she showed up on my time (Wednesdays afternoon to evening) and set up camp in the classroom next to mine blasting music and singing at the highest possible volume while I'm…

Are these shifts legal?

I just started my new job as a strength coach at a gym they split shifts between me and the other coach and we alternate hours every day so one person that works nights, then has to work mornings the next day. That means that on a day like today I got off at 8:30 PM and then have to show up for work tomorrow at 4:30 AM. Is that legal in the state of New Jersey? Also are all coaching jobs like this because if so, I’m just gonna kill myself.

California Lawyer speaks about when a Layoff is Unlawful.

Not just about California law, but he explains when a Layoff might be unlawful, and how a lawyer might have to prove it. Is the company still making money or is it losing money. Is this retaliation for bringing up a safety issue somehow. Are you in a protected class, of race, gender, sexual orientation, disability? Mentions that the 60 day warning period of the WARN act only applies to certain employers and is not very powerful. Does not mention Work From Home situations, and I am guessing that is not a protected class, unless it involves a disability (ADA). Can an employer justify sending people to work (in an office at some distance) if they cannot prove a need? Can they prove the employee is more productive at an office after the commute and distractions? I do not know. There might be an implied contract between you and the…

Was booked for 60 hours worth of work last week, got yelled at for billing 60 hours…

I work as a consultant and help companies with their devops programs/adoption/implementation. Last week I was over booked at 150% (about 60 total hours) across ~7 different projects. I completed all required work and my customers were all happy. Today, I got yelled at for billing 60 hours because that ends up being '12-15 hour days and that seems unrealistic', even though that's what they scheduled for me. Realistically, I probably work ~10 hour days, But between doing work myself and managing others, I'm constantly context switching between projects. So I technically work on multiple projects every hour. We can't bill in less than 1 hour increments, and if I had to keep track of EXACTLY how much time I spent on everything, half of my week would be time keeping for my time keeping. So I typically bill close to what my schedule is booked for, unless there's a…

UPDATE : expected to do everyone’s dishes

Thanks y'all for the suggestions and laughs on the last post! This is just a small update regarding the post I made yesterday. I ended up taking the more professional route and wrote up a very polite and solution driven email. This is what my boss texted me after reading it lol For context the prior receptionist worked for them for 12 years and would do the dishes for them and then when she left the company, the person in charge of marketing did them until they found a new receptionist and so I guess it was just expected I do them. Also, the text about their personal containers, they rarely ever use their own personal containers, they usually always use company dishes which is why I said it really doesn't make a difference. When it says “don't expect ___ and I to do the dishes” he is referring to…

Backed out of promotion, blew up in my face. What now?

The other day I had backed out of a promotion that would change my shift from 3rd to 2nd because it was starting to negatively impact my physical and emotional health, and I had also felt pressured into this promotion and I realized I didn’t have to go through all of this, but now I feel like my boss is retaliating against me, when he put me on 2nd shift he had said the scheduling was already complete and that I was an extra, but all of a sudden when I talk and say I don’t wanna do this then they needed my help and others have to stay overtime because people called in and I was supposed to come in, but I truly feel like he is saying this stuff to get me worked up and is playing into my known weakness and anxiety. He also told me I…

Burned a bridge with a colleague at one job. He is part of the interview process at another job (but I know he still works at the first). Should I report him so he’s not part of the interview process?

Listen I know how it sounds, but the guy allowed someone to unfairly fire me (it was contract work and the person abruptly ended my contract. The guy could've stopped it but he didn't.) for no fault of my own other than sticking up for myself when this person was verbally abusing me in a 1-on-1. Now, I'm on the job market. I know he still works at that previous company. Apparently though, he has a J2 (Job 2), and, he's part of the interview process for that J2. I applied to this J2 and did a great first round today. Then, I find out the next interview is with the guy. I'm like, oh shit. What do you say? Should I report him at this J2 (anonymously) and get him fired so he isn't part of the interview process? For context, I'm very qualified for the role and I'm…
