Sorry this is gonna be long. As I was clocking out today my boss told me that starting tomorrow i will be working a different job. For reference I used to work as a cashier at my current work but hated it and applied to be and have been a line cook there ever since which i mostly enjoy. My boss has been replaced, fired, and rereplaced by my original boss from before. Im the only person left who worked for her before because everyone else quit one by one. The cashier gave her 2 weeks and todays her last day. When i went to check out with my manager and clock out my boss told me that she is eliminating my position and that i will be replacing the cashier. She has apparently been planning this for those 2 weeks because she got the go ahead from her boss…

Ghosting needs to stop
Hi guys, today was a very interesting day for me. So, a couple months ago I had gotten an interview (in person) with this temp agency. I got a contract and signed all the paperwork including employment. Well, the next couple days I had this UTI which actually ended up being a kidney infection which I had told them. After about a week or two of antibiotics I was healed and went back to them telling them that I was cleared to work by my doctor. The lady on the phone said “why did you refuse the contract we gave you?”, like I didn't, I had an infection and told this to you guys. That should've been red flag one. They offered me another contract for a packaging facility and I accepted, then they needed my references again and had to restart the whole process. For the next few months…
I’m unsure if this is legal. Company laid off my department and a few others yesterday as they are struggling financially. Unexpected & it’s very sad, painful & all around sucks. We are mostly eligible for rehire, most left on good terms. Now they’re trying to get us to be independent contractors & either train other employees still there or just do the same work we were doing but as IC. Curious if this is legal, in California. Also if they could be turned in, where would that be to & could I do it anonymously? Would there be any benefit to me doing that?
So I started working at this medical practice a few months ago because I was interested in pursuing a career in this field. I learned a lot of new things very quickly and became very good at what I do. I have developed my own methods to doing certain tasks and created tools to boost efficiency and productivity within my department. When I was first hired at this practice everything seemed to be going well until I met the doctor. (For context I was first hired and trained when he was out of town for a family vacation, and met him when he came back two weeks later.) The doctor owns the practice and everything, and is very good with patients. On top of that, he has a very impressive reputation in the form of fellowships and certifications within this field. The problem is made apparent when I began to…
Need advice…
I've been working at a family owned company for about 5 years. Long story short, the original co-owner, let's call him John was kicked out years ago due to disputes and power struggles between his sister (Jane). He had invested over half a million for the company and was sueing her to get his money back. Fast forward to today, he's now coming back for the company and all of her assets. I've worked with them both and have mutual respect for both of them. I am the store manager and i've been caught in between their dispute. My current boss Jane doesn't tell me much about her case, but her brother has been calling me and updating me about the process. My boss is claiming that she is at the company for x amount of hours and claims that her brother will not be able to run the company…
My current role is ending October 2nd due to layoffs. I was given a 5-month notice, so I was thankful for that. After I leave, I get a two week severance, pay out my PTO (three weeks), and get two more months of paid benefits. I’m taking around a $40k pay cut for the new job and it’ll take me awhile to build up my territory to start earning commissions. So I told the new company I can start Monday, but also telling my current job I’ll be staying there through my official end date. I WFH, and my job load at current job is very light, so I can juggle it. I figure this way I can bank some cash to help make up for the lower salary, and the new job’s benefits won’t start for 90 days, so this helps in that regards too. Win/win/win! I’m a single…
I applied for a cleaning job and got into an interview. At the interview I was told that the position I applied for had been filled already. Then they asked if I would be interested to work in another place as a cleaner. I said yes and was hired the next day. Contract of employment was signed. Then when I started the job, I was so confused because it seemed that I would be the only cleaner in this super big factory. Surely there were other cleaners too, right? Well, no. They never told me I would be the only cleaner until I asked on my third day on the job. I feel like I've been tricked. I wouldn't have accepted this job if I had known. There hasn't been actual cleaners in this factory for quite a while. Some workers in the factory have done the cleaning plus their…
I was “let go” from a grocery job today for being too slow on my second day of training. Like isn’t that what you’re supposed to teach me? Was also told by the manager that it “looks like it’s not going to click” so essentially that I’m too stupid for the job :). She also said “I could see myself getting really mad at you in the future” which was great to hear. Love to know how incompetent I am pre training. Thanks for teaching me everything I need to know.
I've been applying to places all the time, I've got the required experience, I live right there next to all the jobs, I do both in person and online applications, yet I still haven't even gotten an interview request and it's been three months? It's absolutely ridiculous.
