You know, doing things in the gray area of rules. Keeping it in the down low. Not stopping until explicitly told too, and when asked, feigning ignorance. That sort of stuff
More context here as my employer is a regional bank in MN. On October 9th they will be closed in observance of a federal holiday. They do not close for every federal holiday, just the major ones (July 4th, memorial, labor, Christmas, thanksgiving, new years). On October 9th, while they are closed, the company pseudo-forces everyone to volunteer in the community. I say pseudo because if we choose not to volunteer we must use PTO on that day even though the entire company is closed and no one is working for the federal holiday. Is that legal? If not what laws or statutes could I cite to not have to take the PTO? Seems crazy to me that the entire company is closed and if we don’t volunteer (it’s all for optics and social media posts on this specific day) we have to take PTO. And yes I do real…
Been at this company for 2 weeks. When I first met the Manager for the interview and before starting my first shift, she seemed nice and I felt like we could get along well. But since then, I have started to hate her more and more. We don't talk to each other anymore. She seems plain evil. If I had knew she was like this, I'd never have come here in the first place. So I had 4 pallets of Christmas stock to take out of the boxes and put inside the stock room ready for Christmas displays in the shop floor. I thought I had completed them all, it took me almost 3 hours to complete and she goes and pulls another 5 more pallets that were hidden away. Laughs at me and then goes, leaving me here feeling humiliated. Like I said I have only been here for…
I know it's a regular topic but I'm trying to pull together current information and advice on a situation I admittedly became complicit in after your standard bait-and-switch story. — I'm a caregiver for an elderly parent in a small, rural town, so, a remote gig with a steady paycheck? Well, you know. SHORTER VERSION: contract was terminated after 2 years on a growth team. I was fairly flagrantly misclassified. I did call an employment lawyer first thing and sent them all my receipts — of which there are many, from the original job posting, to my contract and the company-owned equipment agreement I had to sign to screenshots and emails. I am now waiting to hear back. They already told me to file for UC anyway as soon as my 30 days are up. Most of Reddit says rat the company out to the IRS. Will there actually be…
Is this offer legit?
I'm usually pretty good a spotting scams but I'm having a hard time with this one. The money is a potential red flag and asking about the financial institution is also a red flag, but the website seems legit and so does the company. Am I missing something?
Got called a b**** by one of my managers
I work as a night auditor at a hotel, and I am in the process of transitioning MtF and have been living as a female for over a year (this is important for the main point). We recently got new printers at the front desk in the hotel and they weren’t fully connected yet to the main computer, because of this I was not able to print out all of the financial reports needed, but was still able to complete the whole audit process. Only thing I couldn’t do was print the final report with the final finances laid out for the day. I went into work last night and the front office manager was still at the hotel, so I asked him if the printer issues had been fixed and his response was “why are you the only one that leaves stuff for others to do?” I asked what…
Context: I work for a well known beverage company, as a Salesman/ Merchandiser I have a route with 5 stores that I oversee. Each of those stores have specific load time schedules to facilitate smoother drop off of product. Yesterday I forewarned my supervisor that I was going to go to a funeral of a good friend that passed this weekend but the catch that it was at 11 Am and I don’t clock out till 3Pm. Being that my Wednesdays are the busiest he threw someone to do my other store that had a load to alleviate my work load. Despite my active communication the Dispatch guy (Not in the same department as my supervisors) switched the route last minute causing my load that should’ve been there first thing at 7:00 am (As the Schedule says) pushing it back to 10 Am causing me to miss the whole ceremony.…
(Crossposted from r/work because didn't receive any response there.) I've been at this cafe for 5 ish months. Let it be clear that in that span of time, everyone who joined was super kind and friendly and amazing to work with. It's also a small speciality business that sells chocolate, in-house baked goods, and espresso/chocolate drinks. Very fun and unique for me to learn about when I switched over from a third wave small cafe. I didn't even interview for the job. I was brought there to hang out by a customer from the cafe I used to work at. I joked about being available if they ever needed a helping hand, the overworked, older female owner said they always need help, and the customer I was with said she'd forward my number. and bam, I was suddenly there. I just went with it, I wanted to learn something new…
Oh and it's my birthday next week. Talk about timing… My girlfriend is in remission, but at high risk for recurrence. We had just discovered they found another spot in her body that might indicate a recurrence and then I open my laptop once we get back home from the hospital and BAM a notification for an urgent 1on1 meeting.. I was told it was due to a restructuring, but the “new” direction and focus of the company is exactly what I've been working on for the past year. I'm not the only one, apparently 10% of the workforce is being cut but I haven't been presented any kind of package or additional information yet, just that I will no longer have a job.. They are fully aware of my situation, but I'm still waiting to get slapped in the face with some limp-noodle severance package. The company is more…
