Hello all, Last week I worked 40.11 hours and my manager came back to me this week and said they could not approve any OT and that I could take a “free” 15 minute break this week to offset it. This seems illegal to me and I wanted to get everyone’s opinion on whether I should report this to the DoL and if I’d even have a case. Also, I shouldn’t face any repercussions from reporting them right? I actually like this job and don’t want to lose it. I don’t even really care that much but if they want to be petty, I can be petty too. Thanks for the help.

My supervisor deletes emails
This is just a small little rant, because I like my GM who is only the middle man in this story, but I pressed for a raise and she as her procedure has to dictate followed up with the supervisor. He said he needed time to think about it. 2 weeks later we finally get a hold of him to the most gaslighting statement ever. “I said yes? Why are you bothering me?” When she showed him the text he apparently just said “well, I'm sure I said yes, I delete emails and texts when I'm finished addressing them.” While I'm happy for my raise, what? I literally have to keep records of the most inane things on file or I'd lose my job. I get cyber-security, I'm all for it–ours is terrible. But I'm highly kinda suspicious of someone who deletes emails days after they send them. Is this…
This question is the most annoying to me during the interview process. I want the job so I won’t be living on the street I need money to live Anyone else have experience with this
Taking a longer lunch break
We recently have been brought into the office for 3 days instead of WFH. I’m a big fitness junky/ it helps with my focus to workout mid day. Our lunch break is 1 he and my gym is 15 away from the office. Would it be terrible to ask my boss if I can come in at 7:30 am instead of 8 am so that I can take a 1:30 long lunch? I figure this would give me 30 or so minutes to drive then at least a 40 minute workout.
Quiet Quitting + firing threats
Why do employers think threatening to fire you over the stupidest things is going to make you work harder and be more loyal to a company? You've basically told me that I'm not that valuable and you can replace me…so what makes them think I can't replace this job. So I've recently been on maternity leave. My managers were very chill before I left. I did my job, no problems and went home. I'm a full time employee and they let me work 4 days cause of my pregnancy and my job is physical. I've come back to a shit show. A new manager (who I was friends with before this) and lots of bs to go with it. I have a 5 month old at home and a husband who has to watch him as we don't have anyone else to watch him. I wore a dress with thin…
Feeling Bad for not working my hardest?
So I'm in a job where I'm basically a one person records-keeping department for a big but unconventional? organization. Think of it like a nursing home, except it's owned by all the little old women who live in it. I don't have to attend meetings, I rarely get phone calls from anyone other than my direct boss who's in an entirely different state and has no idea what I do on a day-to-day. I don't have really any formal training for my position (I just started my grad school program 3 weeks ago, and I was put in charge of this entire division about half a year after starting full time two years ago?) so most of what I do is based on my instincts, the few webinars I've taken and the advice of a consultant who came in a year ago and my boss. Previous to me, they had…
Automatic lunch deductions
I’m hourly, part time in a warehouse. My friend is full time. Management made a change to the system to automatically deduct 30 minutes of pay every day unless you manually punch your lunch or request a removal (for skipping lunch). My friend went months before learning about the new system, meaning he lost hours and hours of pay. Now he requests them to be taken off every day through the company app, and they deny most of the requests he makes. I have limited permissions on this app. I requested access to view my timesheets and daily punches months ago, but was never approved. That means when I have to ask them in person every night to remove my lunch, I have no way to verify if they actually did until I get my paycheck. This company is always finding new ways to micromanage or nickel and dime us.…
I'm not talking about hourly workers, part time workers etc. But people that earn a monthly salary in an office, is paid time off something you DON'T get? I always considered it as a given
Was just told my last day is Friday
As the title says. Company sent me an email this morning saying my last day is Friday. I'm contract so it's in their right to do so I guess but man does this fuck me over. I won't be able to pay rent this month because of it. The kicker here though, they want me to train the new guy. The guy who has the position I was promised. (a full time position in the company) He is a nice guy don't get me wrong, but I don't want to pass on my knowledge of literary everything in the projects we are working on. It feels cruel. I want to just not show up but that would be unprofessional and if a future employer calls them I don't want it to effect that job. I'm already going to file for unemployment. And I'm already searching for jobs. I have a…
