Interner Avengers Assemble!!! Working student here. Got hired as a Corporate Social Responsibility Team Member. Instead of demonstrating on the street, I thought I would like to tell a meeting board instead of why they should care. It's safe to say I have been a fool. My gosh they hate doing good even more than women's rights. Interestingly enough I have the opportunity to give the executives tomorrow 2 “mood boards” aka memes, that should convey what our team wants to say to them. Or why they should care Now besides fuck off, you Nestlé-esque motherfuckers you are everything that is wrong with society… I have not found the right memes to convey what the fuck is up in this world and why they don't try doing their jobs instead of trying to get that sweet end year bonus. So please help me Internet strangers. This sub is pretty vocal…
Idk how to change my attitude
I have a very anti work attitude. I think this whole “rat race” of 40+ hours 5 days a week (sometimes more) is absolute shit. I do not want to slave away my life to make someone else record profits. I do not want to sacrifice precious time with my kids just to make ends meet. I don’t want to feel forced to work just to survive. BUT like I said, I have kids. I’m not in the greatest relationship and it’s possible that it will end. If it does, then I will have to get a job to take care of me and the kids. I’ve been looking at job listings & NOTHING is appealing. So that means that I’ll have to just find a job, any job, and be miserable working it for however long until I move onto the next. Sounds horrible. I just have such a…
I work for an organization who is asking us to opt-in to LinkedIn's TeamLink. It's described as such… When you opt in, Sales Navigator users at COMPANY can see if you are connected to people they are searching for and request an introduction Sounds like they're just using it as a way to farm our connections for possible sales opportunities, possibly ruining the good-will I've built up with my connections. Does anyone have experience with this? Should I opt-in?
Work vehicle gps.
Walked outside to find a field service manager trying to sneak a gps into my obd port. (Company owned vehicle ) we have no gps policy. And not one mention was made to me about a gps getting installed. Take home vehicle. Don’t they need consent ? Maryland vehicle
I am a student, and my plan is to get a masters in library science after I finish my undergrad. I have a two-year degree currently that I finished last month. I've spent the last 4 + years in retail and food service in a state with little to no worker's rights. No benefits, horrible wages, toxic work environments. I mean, I have nerve damage and had to do physical labor beyond my capacity because I needed money & caused more nerve damage. I spent years working until 3 am to close up restaurants sometimes alone, and then called in again at 9 am because they were understaffed. I had a caffeine & nicotine addiction, and I smoked weed for breakfast, lunch, dinner, to get through my chronic pain and be able to work physical labor. I spent a year at a job that did not have a break (just…
I’m doing my second unpaid internship before I graduate. For my “fieldwork” class, which I actually pay to take alongside my internship, I have to do video lessons on business etiquette. Meanwhile I’m getting Cc’d on emails where they use emojis, say stuff like “OMG,” and “EEEK!!!” I’m specifically told not to do any of that in these lessons. I put in the time to triple-check grammar and proper name spelling and include a greeting and sign off, meanwhile everyone else is spelling my name wrong and sending incomplete sentences. It’s like they can do whatever the fuck they want because they already have a job and I can’t. One guy even slept during our zoom meeting. I also spend hours designing graphics only to have the executive director completely change it. She calls them “tweaks” but it’s literally a whole different design. They give me vague instructions so I…
This is what Union Busting looks like.
Wondering why Bottle Jockey in Burnaby’s Brentwood area shut down? It’s because Joey’s Restaurant’s refused to bargain with young workers after they certified with SEIU Local 2 in Vancouver, BC. They closed the liquor store the day before they were to start bargaining. Shame on you & your union busting ways for workers who wanted a bigger voice in their work place.
