Okayy so i have been feeling pretty tired since i have a night shift (1130 pm – 0830 am). For a week i have been insomniac because of which my body has started to ache pretty badly. A week ago i emailed my team lead and manager how I cannot come because I won't be able to function properly and my manager denied saying that we don't accept leave at 11th hour so i went to the office. Last night i emailed 6 hours before the shift and my team lead said denied fucking again. Saying that we are short on staff (they aren't). I saw the email response in the morning because i took a pill and slept way before she responded on my email. And now i am fucking furious about this. My boss got covid and came to work with covid… I am shocked and I don’t even know what else to say. Crazily enough, he got covid the day after I worked with him and he didn’t bother to inform me. A different co worker let me know when I went back to work after the weekend. What the hell? I recently starting working at this clinic and it hasn’t been the best so this really takes the cake. Clearly no concern for patients or staffs health … it’s all about making money and keeping the business going regardless.

I managed to not participate in the work world for a long time, by living alternatively. But now, I am forced to join the 'game' for financial reasons. So I'm working for myself and my plan in the future is to make it bigger, make it a social enterprise and have employees and also probably work with my husband on his bar. So I am already listing and collecting nice things I can offer to workers. Now I want the list of all annoying, stupid, useless rules and things at work to avoid. Like the stupid wasting time of workers by coming there when there isn't much to do or not allowing workers to play on their phones when there is nothing else to do, dimwitted interview questions that generate robotic responses. Hi im the person who had her coworkers put a gravestone shaped urn on my old desk after I moved away from the drama. Things have gotten better. Not with them, hilariously no. They still refuse to look at me, or act as if I exist. We had a mediated discussing with HR last week where I kept myself diplomatic, did not go after them, and stated I just wanted to come to work without wondering what was next. They took the opportunity to bash me to HR, say I work too slow, I let work pile up, no one wants to talk to me so they just talk amongst themselves, etc etc. HR did not let me defend myself, where I would've told them this example (and the only one they had lol) I was covering for an absent coworker so I was doing my work in the first…

It was a 'pack your shit and leave right now' situation. First time for me. It's downsizing. I didn't do anything but I have nothing in writing though I did ask for that already. My contact nor the employee handbook says anything about severance or paying out PTO. This place is so sketchy I'm actually concerned about not receiving my final paycheck. I'm sorry if this is a stupid question. I'm so overwhelmed and in shock. Would appreciate any advice. Keep in mind, these people really are terrible humans, and I do not trust them to do the right thing. They have a history of fucking people over. I'm expecting the worst. Have a severe infection. High fever. Told I got strep AS WELL. Told my manager. “You need to come in regardless if you're sick we don't have enough staff” Ok guys. Yeah not happening. Not my fault that your under staffed. Maybe pay better. My health is more important than your min wage pay. I'll find somewhere else. Also what part of I have strep do you not understand. I should go in and like cough on them get them all sick then maybe they'll change their minds. Jeez.

So toxic environment can mean being micromanaged, skeleton crews, back stabbing, retaliation, underpaid and overworked. I’m starting to think that I need therapy so I can stick it out at a job so I can pay my bills despite the fact that many jobs are toxic. Which is what’s holding me back from job hopping.

I hate the rat race… It's like I have to have my entire existence surrounding work. Make food to bring to work, clean clothes to bring to work, work out so I don't implode while working (I'm a labourer) work overtime to pay bills,work to pay for Car etc… I just want to live in a humble house, play guitar, write stories, have fire and hang out at the pub on Fridays. Personal story, I grew up poor/unwanted left home at 17 and have been running/working ever since (surviving). I finally saved some money and just stoped working for about 3 months, first time in 6 years I've stoped. And I did just that, went hiking, camping, learned like 5 songs on guitar. No point to this, just wanted to share. I'll probs be working for the next 5 years again. Maybe I'll be able to retire in Ireland one…
