Being a manager means one thing… Manage.

Pre-Covid Been working at this place for 2 years by this point. Had done well over this time. Resolved alot of issues others hadn't. Upskilled juniors, helped seniors all the usual stuff an employer looks for in an employee. Loyal to the brand. Manager leaves. Ok that's fine, was a good dude. New manager starts. This person was a project manager… redflags flying. I was overseas when she started, she txt me a couple of days before I was due back saying she was looking forward to meeting me and have heard big things. Days turn into weeks, weeks months. Manager was doing average at people managing. Calling people the wrong name. Forgetting to do things and otherwise just 5/10. My wife and I decided to have a child. Things weren't going too smoothly for us so had to have tests done and samples taken. You know normal stuff. I…

The managers at my gfs job take a portion of their tips every shift. Is this illegal? What can be done about this?

My gf works in a recreational marijuana dispensary in Colorado, and has been employed there for a year. The whole time, all the tips they receive in the tip jar are divided equally between all the employees currently working, including the managers. My gf just did a google search and it says that managers taking tips is illegal under US law. Does anyone here have any clarifying info about this? And where can we report this? Thank you if you read this 😀

My boss is trying to make me quit, but I don’t want to (rant)

He's trying to 'push me out' by scheduling me for the least amount of hours possible and just generally being a dick. Most of my coworkers are working 15-20 hours per week and I'm getting less than 10. Consistently for the past 2 months. And he also schedules me for days where I most likely won't even get to work (because if we don't get any bookings for that day he tells us not to come in). So I'm basically doing no work at all. He has also started doing this fun little thing where he does not tell me when I'm not needed, so I show up only to find out we have no bookings and I didn't need to drive all the way to work. I know he's trying to get me to quit because multiple of my coworkers have told me he brags about never firing anyone…

Manager aggressively targets me still.

I'm still at my current job, since i cant find a suitable replacement right now, and the manager that aggressively berates me is still at it. Just now, I was about to grab an order for a customer, I walk to the backroom to grab it and lo and behold she's standing right there behind the door and she literally yelled “what the hell are you doing back here? Get back to where you belong!” To which I responded “Yeah, I'm supposed to be back here to grab-” And she unsurprisingly interrupted me saying “if you need us just yell ok?! It's not that hard, now don't leave your post.” For reference , between the nearest register and the door to the backroom is about 50 or so feet away. Maybe more. And with the massive wall, the chatter of customers and music overhead. I'd be surprised if she did hear…

Got fired over text for discussing my rights as an employee

Hi! The title is pretty self explanatory but I need advice. (I have chronic brain fog sorry if I worded this weird.) Such a tricky situation. So a few days ago (Thursday) I was discussing my rights in the workplace as me and all of my coworkers agree that the work we do doesn’t add up to the pay, plus a dozen other violations of concern. While trying to bring up our concerns in the monthly meeting, I was called into the office and written up for unprofessionalism for simply discussing my rights in the workplace. The company I worked for had an open door policy as well as dozens of other contracts to protect themselves. However they were violating labor laws. These were including but not limited to: OSHA safety violations, Violation of Employee rights in the workplace, Minimum Wage Law, and violation of employee and client privacy, plus…

No Bereavement

So I work for a company in Illinois and was told that since I'm in my 90 day probationary period I don't qualify and if I take time I will be facing displinary action. I'm the only one in my role this week. I've gotten zero sleep two days in a row and I physically can't be at work and what they need me to be. I lost my grandfather and he meant everything to me. I shouldn't face displinary action over things outside of my control. I already think 90 day probationary periods are pointless. You're expecting me to not feel human and grief and continue to work. They only offered me 1 day unpaid for the visitation/funeral but it's not enough. Not to mention isn't their a new law for Illinois regarding bereavement time?

Incompetent thanksless combative CEO

Because the new CEO doesn't want to use the project management system, I have to send him an email every time I pick my nose. Today he cried to 'answer me now!' in an email because the person he had on tech support 'didnt know about the program for the send'' wtf does that even mean? And no there was no another context in the message, just incoherent bs. I cant read your mind u selfish fuck. I needed to train him on a software that he will use and he just kept interrupting me, skipping ahead to different steps on his own machine while refusing to share his screen when he was clearly lost. How can boomer bosses be this totally incompetent when it comes to tech?? How can someone be so grossly overpaid while not understanding that you don't log into your email from your fucking hardrive. This…
