Rant: I work as a community outreach worker. It’s policy to not administer Narcan. I did it anyways because I had gloves on to roll the guy into the recovery position. He had blood all over his face and nose so the other people close by and the person who had been carrying it were hesitant to do it. The person on the phone with 911 said the dispatched wanted us to administer it. I wasn’t on our companies property and didn’t want to watch this guy die so I bit the bullet and did it. I knew I had broken policy but I didn’t want to watch a guy die from an OD for the second time on this job. I got fired for saving a life because it was against policy. I’m livid and terrified. I work as a cashier at a grocery store. It's towards the end of my shift, my light is turned off and I'm finishing up with a customer. Next thing, this white guy with a basket comes up to my lane. I visibly shoo him away, point to my light and say “I'm closed.” The guy proceeds to get upset with the fact that I shooed him away, throws his basket onto the belt, and runs away to the service desk to demand to speak to manager. I finish with my current customer and go over to him attempting to apologize (shooing him away may not have been the best thing to do but customers are so fucking stupid, they cannot read the sign and realize that they are closed, it happens WAY TOO OFTEN). Sorry, this is just a vent: I hate that if you had a genuinely terrible experience with a company, no matter how carefully and professionally you word your feedback, websites will reject or remove your review. What's the point of giving reviews if your only option is to praise them? Might as well change it into an endorsement/ego stroking system instead if your truth doesn't matter anyways. We need a better online review system.

So I just started a new job as a lab technician at a dental laboratory. I was a veterinary technician previously for several years but due to depression and burnout I decided to leave the veterinary field and thought a laboratory job would be a good fit for me with my background. I shadowed a nice lady after my interview who was setting teeth on a denture and I was told she would be training me. I was excited for this change. Well I was wrong about this job. I show up and nice lady is not there and I instead get placed with a guy who seemed annoyed I was there. He let me watch him for about 2 hours before saying the manager won’t like it if I just sit and observe and he sent me to a bench by myself to work. He said he can’t watch…

It's been false promises and fake outs from the get go. “We get a light load, usually 5 pallets every 3 working days” they said “the shop is typically quiet but busy” they said. There was never such a role as flexi full time, that's just the scumbag company secret word for part time (with disruptions to my life balance) “Please come in early, we need you!!” they say. Am I supposed to say no? I can't really, I'm the only one on actual “full days” and I do most of the donkey work. “32 pallets tomorrow”, they said “we have nowhere to put them”. For the past multiple months, my employer has given me my paycheck a week or more later than the date we are to be paid. I am currently waiting for my check that was supposed to be issued 10 days ago, and the next pay date is supposed to be in 6 days. I keep getting told that there isn't enough money in the account for payroll, and I sent out an email to the owners today asking about it but have got no reply. I'm certain this company is going under. I have had my hours cut in half already, to ease some financial strain with the company, but am still not getting my check until a week or more after the actual pay date. Can I stop working, and file for unemployment, on the grounds of being laid off due to the company not being financially able to…

Man if I hadn’t talked with this dude from work last year and found out he made $2 an hour more than me with the same years experience and education (healthcare field) AND started at the company after me, I probably never woulda pushed for a raise beyond the normal annual raise. Low and behold the company is kinda a sinking ship (not completely) and now I got a $2.50/hr raise as my boss finally acknowledged the BS and is trying to hold onto the employees that are left lol.
