Jobs that say hours are earned
But will then being on endless swathes of new people who are easy come and easy go.
I've worked as a special education teaching assistant for about 6 years. Long story short, I'm underpaid and the program I work for got moved this year from an awesome public middle school to an awful, poorly run k-12 school. After 3 days, I can tell very little learning happens here. I used to really enjoy my work and the teacher whose classroom I work in is awesome and has been really good to me. I've also worked with most of the students for several years. However, after 6 years, I only make $0.94 more cents an hour than a new hire would. School districts near me are starting teaching assistants at a higher wage than what I currently make. With the ongoing teaching assistant shortage, I should have no problem finding a new job. After 3 days at this new school, I can tell I will be miserable every…
Does anyone have experience with this situation. I have 3 years with the company, other guys at different locations have more time than me. Management decided a brand new guy is worth more money on day 1. Open to all suggestions, realistic or not haha.
I don’t know why anyone would bother giving a company two weeks notice if they fire employees without notice… even my parents disagree with me about quitting without notice, especially when I told them that they flashed a knife at me twice. If I get the job on Wednesday, I’m packing my shit and leaving. Better pay and remote work.🫡
PSA TO ALL RETAIL CUSTOMERS
When the store ANNOUNCES THAT THEY ARE CLOSED… please do not continue to BROWSE AROUND. Thank you goodnight 🫶
Some backstory, we are currently at less than half the required operating staff. Everyone is trying to fit in the work of 2 people in the same hours for the same pay, and the boss has taken over 3 roles at once. In an attempt my attempt to speak with him about how this is majorly affecting our customers, and point out that his instruction actually places our highest paying customers at the bottom of the list for service, he puts his fingers in his ears and starts rolling his tongue “alalalalalalaalalalalal” for about 20s until I just walked out and got on with my day. How the hell am I supposed to react to that? He’s bipolar and is known for aggressive outbursts however in the 4 years I’ve been there I’ve never seen him act so unprofessionally before.
Context: 41 year old construction worker with 20 years experience in my trade. Looking to stop swinging the hammer and get behind the desk. After only one interview I got an offer for job I'm super qualified for. I applied and interviewed almost immediately. I killed the interview and later that day I got the notice that I would have an offer within a couple days. Today I received the offer from the CEO. It was 10K less than what I was asking for. I replied to the VP and told her I had a few questions and asked if I should negotiate with her or the CEO. While asking about day-to-day, benefits, hours, etc, she mentioned that this was a 55+ hour/week job. The math isn't working out. I told the VP that with those hours I need to be compensated with a higher salary. She asked to…
Especially not for the ungrateful boomers who've ruined everything for us. Why should I pay into a system to make their last years comfortable while I struggle to make a living right in this moment? Why should I pay into a system that might not even exist by the time I retire? Our freaking country might not exist in 30-40 years for gods sake. We're doing basically nothing to combat climate change and the destruction of our environment. We're doing nothing to make healthcare available to everyone without bankrupting us all and nothing to make prescription drug costs affordable. I'm sick of paying taxes for the ungrateful whiny boomers who place blame on the generations that came after them, their kids and grandkids. I'm sick of it!
