I went to Walmart for an interview, and they were disrespectful as hell. Long story short, I'm walking into the establishment, and they are basically looking at me like I'm stupid. I had on some black cut of shorts, and a red Areopostale jacket. I come to the establishment, I already several days prior talked to somebody and they dismissed me like I was an incovience. I had to come back days later because my last application expired. I was told this by a rude front desk lady, who wouldn'tstop looking at me like i was a bum. I then come back today, I went to the back and they dismiss me to the break room. They then call me back, and in a room filled with supervisors one of the bosses looks me up and down and points at my cloths and told me to come back presentable for…

Fair Pay for Reddit Mods Movement
We Deserve to Get Paid for Our Work Join us at r/MonetizeReddit Reddit is one of the most popular and influential social media platforms in the world, with over 50 million daily active users and hundreds of thousands of communities. However, behind the scenes, there is a group of people who make Reddit possible: the moderators. Moderators are unpaid workers who manage and maintain the quality of the content and discussions on Reddit. We set the rules, remove spam, ban trolls, resolve conflicts, and foster a positive environment for our communities. We do this without any compensation or recognition from Reddit, often spending hours of our own time and money to keep our subreddits running smoothly. However, this situation is unfair and unsustainable, especially in times of record inflation and economic uncertainty. Moderators deserve to be paid for their work, not only because we provide a valuable service to Reddit…
I struggle with mental illness and I recently found this subreddit that resonated with me. It’s not that I don’t want to work but definitely a key thing that makes my disorder worse is stress. Knowing that most jobs will pay as little as they can, while trying to overwork you (successfully or unsuccessfully) kinda drives me up the wall, especially when being paid so little it usually leads to a lifestyle of living paycheck to paycheck. (That isn’t ideal, obviously.) which becomes very depressing and leads me to worsened symptoms and eventually crashing into a deep hole of depression, where I outright quit or pray to God they fire me. Then I struggle to get my foot in the door to a new job. I apply and there’s no contact, no answer whether or not I got it. (so it’s an obvious no. But would be nice if they’d…
I work for an research company and I’m part of a support group. We just got a new work request system that will help our business group get more requests in since our group has grown significantly but the issue is that our development cycles are extremely cyclical due to nature of our business. At the moment we are in a lull and I’m finding myself having to do maintenance tasks for our workspace (actually needed). I am worried that upper management will bean count our work with this new system and start determining that we’re not necessary despite us actually keeping busy. I spend a lot of time developing trainings that we have needed for a while and implementing inventory systems.
I like we’re I work, semi. I was wondering if there is a way to tell how positive the company is to the environment, to the community, to their workers, ext. I did find csr online but how would I go about figuring that out for the company I work at? I want to not just be benefiting a corporation who lobbies for bad things and hates the environment or is indifferent. I want to work somewhere that I can at least kinda work towards a better future. Anyone able to help?
Microsoft – remote work
The past two weeks I’ve been contacted about a few remote roles from Microsoft. This has come as a welcomed shock given they spent over a billion dollars on their new campus prior to the pandemic. Of all the companies that would go back to remote contracts, Microsoft wasn’t on my list. But here we are. Curious for those in the tech industry seeking new roles – what companies are you seeing an uptick in remote positions? Is this an early sign the industry is going to have to flex on their requirements to return to the office? Is this a sign remote is here to stay? I don’t know but I’m more hopeful now than I was a few weeks ago.
Anyone else who watched the NFL kickoff this weekend probably also noticed a bunch of commercials for clumsily thrown together game shows and reality shows. The most obvious one being this monstrosity which as far as I can tell is loosely based on a movie he made with some other douche bags. Anyways- this is an obvious effect of the WGA & SAG strikes. Its almost insulting how these companies think they can replace written shows with this garage and still capture our attention. Just pay the actors and writers or don’t put on anything at all cause we ain’t watchin.
I was fired- do I sign the release??
This has never happened to me. I was just fired without cause. I feel a retaliation fire for putting in a complaint against my coworker. I really don't care. She seemed to hate I existed and I really didn't care about the job. So I'm fine with it emotionally and mentally but the thing is- they offered six weeks severance and want me to sign a release. I have not signed. I have heard I shouldn't until I contact legal advice but if it's just gonna be the same result or something not worth pursuing I will sign. I am NOT thinking I am entitled to extra money. I just want clarification on what I'm signing. Seems some sort of non disclosure agreement but to my understanding is pretty standard in these situations. Anyone been in this situation?
I work for a company that maintains and inspects stormwater assets in the USA. Over the past few years crew sizes have been whittled down and workloads have been steadily inflating. Is anyone else in this field experiencing ridiculous workloads, travel times, and being understaffed?
