I posted this on the mental health sub but thought I’d share here as well. It’s taken me 9 jobs to figure out that the biggest source of stress for me is being overworked. (Well, besides not making enough money, but I’ll save that meltdown for another day.) These are the spiraling thoughts I have when overworked, maybe you can relate: I can’t do all this work. my work time is not valued. I am not valued. no one cares about my personal well-being, just that the work gets done. my health and survival don’t matter, only work. this is going to be as painful as every other time I’ve been overworked. my coworkers/boss think I’m not working hard enough. working as hard as I can and being stressed doesn’t fix anything, and won’t make the work load better. / it doesn’t matter how hard I work, nothing will get…

Leaving Jobs for Something Better
To all the folks who feel bad to leave their employer, I wanna say you do you. YOU have to look out for yourself first. Your employer would literally not think twice to fire you. Same for coworkers too. Before I started my new job, I used to be very nice and built a lot of good connection given I’m in HR. My director was a bitch to everyone, so I tried to be the nice and understanding one. Because of that, everyone said they prefer me over the director when having HR related questions. You’ll think when you leave or something, they’ll treat you nice as well. When I went back to return my equipments, I was treated like an intruder by my peers who I talked to everyday when I was still there. The one person who talked to me everyday now treats me like a stranger and…
Sure Thing
Was laid off (Motel industry)
Hi there, I was wondering if my employer has the right to bump my seniority when I was off work due to having a minor surgery, then back pain as a result. I provided Dr notes, and I was off for about one month. I'm not part of a union. I was bumped by someone with 6 months less seniority than me.
Workers comp and quitting job?
I am currently on workers comp due to a work related injury. While I’ve been collecting disability I’ve been applying for new jobs. I got a interview tomorrow. I am expected to be cleared next week to return to full duty. Should I disclose in the interview my current disability status and when I’m expected return to full duty. Also can I quit my current job with proper notice after being cleared with no issues for my feature comp lawsuit?
Hey everyone. I’m in AZ if that helps. I turned in my 2 weeks already. I’m at work (shift spans multiple days) and honestly just don’t want to do it. We’re over staffed so nobody would get screwed over, management is pissing me off. If I leave before the date on my written 2 week, I’d there any legal trouble I can get in? TIA
I’m officially laid off.
But that's ok. Working in a fucking warehouse is starting to affect my mental health with all the repetitive bullshit and menial tasks.
At the end of August I put in my two weeks at the spot I was at, 2 shifts into my notice they told me I didn’t need to finish out the remaining shifts and told me to collect my last check. Shortly after I tried to apply for unemployment (wasn’t going to initially but I was informed of a behind the scenes meeting where the owner/gm wanted me gone immediately so fuck them), but my account with all my pay stubs was deactivated. I requested my pay stubs and it’s been two weeks and they still haven’t gotten them to me. At this point I highly doubt they’ll get them to me. How am I supposed to file for unemployment at this point if I can’t report the gross pay? What the hell can I do?
I almost got fired for a stupid reason
I almost got instantly fired from my work… Context, I work at a pizzeria and it’s kind of a open kitchen where they’re kinda connected together. I slipped when we were closing tonight, and fell on my knee and arm, and screamed out “Fuck!” From getting hurt. No one was there customer wise, so it wasn’t that much of a commotion but still… we finished closing and when I was about to leave, the kitchen manager pulled me aside and told me not to do that again, because the other manager who ran the whole place would’ve fired me on the spot if I did that and someone was there… Our place has a 3 strike policy, and I don’t have any strikes but some things can get you instantly fired Like I mean, dude I literally just saw red, because I was so pissed when I fell, I can’t…
Weaponizing hiring
For context, I’m not upset with the hiring manager of the company I interviewed for, but someone else who stuck their nose in on my process and fucked me and my family hard… I had gone through three interviews for an apprenticeship position in a new-to-me industry and was absolutely a finalist for said position. Someone else from an adjacent department wanted to interview me as well, as the position I interviewed for and the adjacent department work together in many aspects. Okay, no problem, I figured. Someone just wanted to have a more informal chat. Wrong…apparently the other manager took this opportunity to wrest away hiring power from who was supposed to be the hiring manager and fucked me. He said he wasn’t confident in my experience for an apprenticeship position. Can someone make sense of someone bitching about not having enough experience to get into an apprenticeship program?…
