I should NEVER have to work with anyone sick

I'm salty because I'm a germophobe and COVID is going around. But I have to work with someone who is very obviously sick today and I'm disgusted. I have a compromised immune system. She is not weating a mask or anything. If (when) I get sick this week, I will blame her. This is less of an antiwork thing. If you're working and you are sick, don't come in and get everyone else sick. Plain and simple.

Does this seem fair/right? My first time working as a contractor. Complex Image Captioning Job for Snap Chat. Trained for 33 hrs last week. Only being paid for 5hrs. Won’t be paid for a whole week if error rate exceeds 20%.

They are counting our hours by how many images of 3d models we are able to caption, not how many hours we actually worked. It takes way longer than that. Last week My co-worker and I spent four days captioning 30+ images of complex 3d models for 8 hours a day. This week they want 140 captions a day with a low error rate or we don't get paid for that whole week. https://preview.redd.it/4b8w3qpcsnnb1.jpg?width=861&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=72f4fc588abd327cf100b3936af34f0e29e075ea

Your shittiest CEOs or C Levels

I've worked in a couple of companies and witnessed some strange behavior from some C Levels: Drinking at a company event to the point of puking over a big table 10 people sat at Encouraging team members to sniff the powder after work and calling everyone boring who doesn't join Shooting with NERF guns at each other and employees while these employees are forced to work extra hours Sharing photos of themselves posing proudly with topless women in the company WhatsApp group during a club visit on a company trip Falling in love with someone and promoting them whenever possible, although the love is of less use than the juniors Honestly, the list could go on and on, but I think that's my top list. I know I'm not alone, please share your WTF moments you had with CEOs and alike ๐Ÿ™‚

In a weird spot

Some background, I was laid off 1 year ago from my FT job of 21 years…I was allowed to collect pogey, and still currently file for hours worked to E.I (called Employment Insurance in Canada) however, I haven't had a single payment from them since beginning of July, because I quit my then part time job of 5 weeks at the end of June, which was due to medical issues while working there…but at the same time that happened, I did manage to get another replacement casual part time job which I still work at, but due to this, my E.I “claim” is still under review for reason of separation from former part time job that I left for medical reasons, and I haven't had a payment from E.I since. Two weeks ago, I was offered another part time job, which I still am currently training for? That is a…

They tried to make me and some of my team members do more work without compensating us for it.

Ive been at my job for a little over 2 years now. They used to only have 2 tiers of workers tier 1 only handles residential accounts and tier 2 handled both residential and commercial. I was in the 2nd tier, after a while, the company decided to make even more tiers to split up the work. While i was still in tier 2 they made it where id only do residential accounts and a 3rd tier for residential and commercial. The 3rd tier would get a pay increase which is all good more work more pay. So a few days ago my manager told me and some of my other team members we would be doing the work of the tier 3 agents even though we were still at tier 2 and had no interest in applying for the 3rd tier. My team and i asked if we were…

Am I being too sensitive about political and non-inclusive statements at work?

I'm three months in with a new company and have been in a number of awkward situations and heard odd statements that seem like red flags, or perhaps I'm just getting too sensitive as I get older. I'm a 40 year old white male. None of the below situations include my direct manager. This is a sales position where we meet at client sites regularly. After meeting one manager and having the usual chit chat, he asked if my kids have kitty litter boxes in their schools. I told him no, that's not a thing, yet he was insistent it happens in Missouri and then went on a rant about kids not knowing what bathrooms to use. Same manager bragged about being the only store in the area without employees wearing masks during peak COVID. On my first joint sales call with another employee and he shows up at the…

Mr Big Asshole

So, like many younger, naive contributors to this forum, I once thought that manglement was a meaningful value add to a company, filled with folks looking to enable their employees, maximise returns and generally contribute to the collective. This is the simple, predictable story of my awakening. I worked for a company that built a software product that was technically effective, had good team members, and a strong client base. The management wanted to turn it public, so they hired a CEO to take them there. New CEO meant new processes and procedures – he introduced a 'new employees orientation' that, it turns out, I needed to attend. It was a day trip, a lot of background about him, how the company fits into the sphere of the competition, and what we were aiming to build. Fair enough. During the part about “him”, our CEO uttered the immortal line: “I…

Struggling to get a job because of an a hole ex employer.

For context I worked as a TA in a mainstream secondary school. I was given so many more responsibilities than I was being paid for. An example of this is I would have to do lesson plans for a special needs student who was unable to read or write, I was working 8:30-4:30 non stop with this student whose lessons I had to HAND WRITE non stop all day. I was missing most of my break because I had to escort the student to a particular room and collect lunch for them. I was exhausted by days end. I told my higher ups about my concerns, the student not being able to access the curriculum, how much stress I was under, the extra work I was having to put in, how mentally exhausted I was. You know what they said? โ€œWeโ€™re thinking of putting you and the student in a…

Wife stood up for herself, I’m proud.

So my wife has been trying to get a decent paying job for a while now. Currently she is working at a restaurant chain that said she'd “make 18 an hour” and get “30 hours a week”. Her pay rate is 6.25 and she gets cash tips but even then only averages to about 10 at best. She applied to work front desk at a hotel “7am-3pm M-F” and I think the advertised rate was 12 or 12 and hour. She got the interview and when she went in the person there did not ask any questions other than. “How long will it take you to learn the system?” My wife said about a day or 2. The lady asked her come back at 10pm to learn the system, did not give her an offer letter, and said “training is unpaid.” She dropped that place like a sack of bricks…
