Place I work had a minor tropical storm last week. Everybody was told to stay home except for essential personnel (maintenence, security, nursing). Then an email went out saying people would get paid for that day. So I asked if we got paid double for that day, or get 8 hrs PTO for that day. No, because you actually worked. So I asked how it was fair that 90 percent of the folks got extra pto/day off. Was told it was my job. “But we can ask about it for next time.” Told HR there wouldn't be a next time.

Forced loyalty program
Repost bc original was removed. The restaurant I work at is forcing servers to get loyalty program signups. Servers get paid $2 an hour, and this restaurant heavily relies on lifetime servers to basically run the place. FOH is constantly overstaffed($2 an hour), BOH is constantly understaffed(like $12-15 an hour). We’re all just sick of it. This is the final cherry on top for some of us. Any ideas on how to handle this?

why you shouldn’t give 2 weeks notice
stay at your old job until the new one starts. then quit. no 2 weeks notice. Logistics unicorn Flexport is in a state of flux right now—and that means it’s had to retract dozens of job offers just a few days before some of the new hires were due to start work at the company. In a series of posts to the X platform on Friday, Flexport’s founder and CEO Ryan Petersen—who, at the time of posting, was just hours into the job—apologetically explained that the move was necessary to get the firm back on track as it looks to tighten its purse strings. “Flexport is rescinding a bunch of signed offer letters for people who were starting as soon as this Monday,” Petersen said. “I am deeply sorry to those people who were expecting to join our company and won't be able to at this time. It's messed up.…
Seriously, I know we all have to work and make money to survive. I get it, it’s life. Most people don’t like it. But it’s just too much. I feel like a lot of people don’t love working, but they push through, get home, and enjoy the rest of their day. I’m a student and I also work 28 hours a week. Not bad. I only work a full day on Monday. School isn’t too terrible. I don’t have it as bad as others. But still, the only time I don’t feel like I have a massive weight on my shoulders is if it’s the weekend or if I’m off from work for a week (which never happens because I’m part time so I don’t get PTO). I love having my time to wake up, have a cup of coffee, enjoy the weather, get some sunshine, have peace and quiet,…
I’m approaching retirement age and work for a large company with a good salary. Problem is that I hate my manager and have zero respect for them. We have had disagreements, but things got a little more escalated recently when I questioned their management decisions (not even publicly….just with them…and to be fair…yes, I have a loud mouth….but never a personal attack….just on business stuff)….and next thing you know, there’s a warning from HR. Ok. I get it. Thin skin. Wants to put me in my place. So I call my investment advisor…and he’s like “you can walk out whenever you want.” He had my cash flow laid out from now til death with a fair chunk left over…and I thought….I don’t need this. I’ve seen too many people in their mid to late 50’s freakin drop dead, and I’m not up for it. So I quit. I could have…
Rant about dumb Managers
Hi everyone! I'm here to gather some opinions. I'm 26, and it's been 6 years that I work at Sales in the same enterprise. I'm someone that it's really methodical and technical, I did my Professional Formation In this enterprise and I learned all the rules, the protocols and concept, the correct ways to do and also and incorrect ways to do. Today I see my TeamLeaders and Managers (that never worked directly at Sales, or they did in other enterprises) taking a lot of actions against those same rules, protocols and concepts. And it's super infuriating because I know that those actions they will have a f#cked up result in long term and then its me and my team who will need to take care of. And when I try to reason with TeamLeader he tells me that's how the Managers want to do and the end. I know…
